Hi everyone,

Just wondering if someone can look over Henry's spreadsheet and let me know if I'm on the right path. I upped him to 1.50u this morning,

Henry was doing so well for a while but for the last 2 weeks we're back to low blues at AMPS and PMPS. I haven't been testing him as much as I usually do as I'm a recovering testaholic and his numbers have become fairly predictable. I also work full-time, but I plan to do a curve tomorrow.

Henry has many health issues but nothing has changed in the last two weeks, except daylight savings on the 7th which coincidentally is when the blues starting showing up.

His Lantus vial is also 5 months old, could that be it?

Thank you!

With TR you want to get at least one test every cycle to see how low he is going. Without enough data, it's hard to say whether the higher numbers means he needs more insulin or whether he is bouncing from lows that are not being caught.

Okay I gotcha, thank you for the advice. I can test often on weekends and can get at least two tests on the evening cycle. His nadir is usually at +4 so sometimes I don't check later than that.

So should I just go back to 1.25u, get more tests and post again in a few days?

Since you increased today can you test as needed all cycles today and tomorrow? If so I’d consider trying the 1.5 as he’s almost a year diabetic. That way you should know by Monday if it’s too much. Ordinarily I would not advise increasing so this is just for you should anyone be lurking. Agree or disagree @Bandit's Mom

One additional thought...

My kitty had an early nadir. Her nadir was at +3, except for those times when it wasn't. Nadirs may generally fall at a particular point in the cycle but they can and do change.
