All good over here! He's back out and about, BG coming down, fever gone. Still has quite the diarrhea, just waiting out the antibiotics. He is however holding out for MC...

@Suzanne & Darcy how long would you wait him out? I know his appetite is fine, he scarfs down treats and MC cans just fine. He just won't touch LC...I thought perhaps maybe aversion since he got sick but I've tried different foods. Last two days I gave LC and night be he just waited for MC during the day...today I set out LC again trying to force his hand (paw?).

I'm glad Mr Kitty's fever is gone I hope you find something to help the diarrhea
and he'll start eating his LC. Nice blue start this morning :bighug::bighug:

Melissa --

Have you stocked up on S. boulardii for the diarrhea? It is a wonder probiotic in my book. If you've not seen this info on meds and supplements, there's great info included.
I do have full stash in cupboard! ER tried to send me home with FortiFlora as a probiotic for a tidy $30  He's funky on if he'll eat it on food or not, was trying to give him a day or so to eat on his own and see what happened. Going to start it tonight

S boulardii should clear up the diarrhea in a day or so. Looks like his numbers might be coming down. Keeping fingers and paws crossed for you guys. Eat your LC, Mr. Kitty!

He held out and I gave him MC tonight since it had been 24 hours since he'd eaten. Will run to store tomorrow to see if I can get some completely different LC

So glad about the fever breaking and the numbers. Get yourself some BeneBac Plus from Amazon in the large syringe. Add to food. It’s awesome. Most cats will eat their food with the BeneBac in it. I personally have used it with success in bottle babies who were sick all the way up to adult cats. It’s not expensive.

If he’s on antibiotics then I would try to wait until the course is finished and hope the diarrhea clears up. Unless the other things don’t help and you can’t stand it anymore and want to try a different antibiotic. You know, I bet, things you can try for diarrhea like the aforementioned S. boulardii. Have you any Pro-Pectalin on hand. I hate using it because my cats hate it so much (just because I usually have to squirt it in their mouths since they won’t eat it). The pectin in there helps gel up the stool and the kaolin helps dry it out. It helps some if you can get it inside them.
There’s another product on Amazon called Diggin’ Your Dog that has freeze dried pumpkin and apple pectin in it. It can help with both constipation and diarrhea. If they will eat it in their food, that is!

Thanks everyone!

Yes still on veraflox and metronidazole, need to double check discharge papers for how many days

I started the boulardii this morning...he ate it, but overall barely ate any MC. And barely any overnight. Felt warm again today, need to take temp as soon as I get a chance.

We ran out and got a variety of LC so we'll see if we.cant get him.to eat at least something...I still have mirtaz just haven't wanted to use it

Oh no. Sounds like his fever may have returned. You didn’t mention the Metronidazole in your first post after you got back from the vet (or I missed it). So I was going to suggest that you get some from the vet after you finished the Veraflox. Metronidazole is good for stopping diarrhea and I have used it with success many times. But I would try those other things first. It could be that the Veraflox and Metronidazole are working at cross purposes. Also could be the Veraflox taking away his appetite, but my guess is fever. At least he had a break from fever so he could top up on some food.

Doesn’t he get mad when you take his temperature? I hope the diarrhea will stop soon. He was already dehydrated according to the vet.

Also cannot remember if you have used slippery elm bark on him before or if he will eat it. Do you have any injectable B-12?

are you giving Cerenia and/or Ondansetron?

We just had a very rough med session (cabergoline, metro, veraflox, ondansetron, boulardii) so I'm letting the temp go for tonight. He feels cooler than he did earlier, but if he does have a fever it has to be slight.

He's not dehydrated yet, Im guessing he'll need fluids again tomorrow. Thought about tonight but he was just done.

I've not used slippery elm. Probably take too long to get, and he's already on so much else...I'll give boulardii another day or so.

No injectable B12. What would that do? I've never used B12.

Set out a brand new LC food for him, but I'm not hopeful because he wouldn't even touch his PureBites. Have to get more ondansetron tomorrow, so will add Mirataz once I can get that

I agree that you already have put Mr. Kitty through enough with all those meds at one time. He’s done! You’re done!
I just didn’t know what you had on hand so I inquired about the B-12 and slippery elm. I would not run out and get it or anything. I have seen B-12 perk up a lot of cats, but at this point it is a “nice to have” and not necessarily a “need to have.” I have had a lot of improvement in diarrhea with the BeneBac Plus stuff.

It sounds like you are doing everything right at this point. I think he may feel better tomorrow!

Oh poor Mr Kitty :( I think I picked up my slippery elm in person at super supplements...not that I've used it much or necessarily recommend it! Just wanted to let you know it was fairly easy to get, if you wanted it. Also can't help advise on food with "Princess Minnie and the Pea". The A/D always used to be my magic food (MC) but lately she isn't thrilled with that so now I'm playing cat food roulette with all the varieties in the cupboard which she used to like! Hope he feels better soon.

Well ending the night on a positive, ate the FF. Cool again so maybe he was just sleeping near a vent.

I also finally convinced him to like me again, took much coaxing (see visual story in spreadsheet, they were several minutes apart haha) and about a 15 minutes brush session...for which I was rewarded with some leaky poop :arghh:

Oh and will start a new thread in the morning
