The bounce has finally arrived and I can't say I am sad to see it because, selfishly, I need some rest and both of us need a break from constant testing. Bama is feeling much better, ate decently, had a poop in the box overnight and another one already spurred on by breakfast. He has had several pees in the box but has taken to "stealth peeing"--waiting until I am distracted or not around to see him and getting his business done so I have yet to get a sample but I will in time.

He did show some interest in eating at PM+9 so I gave him 1T salmon kibble. He ate steadily this morning but was not overly hungry. Have not given any meds since the bupe at PM shot time. It did have some affect. His eyes were glassy and he is moving around much better today, too. After his initial nap after PM shot and for couple hours, he slept, but at PM+3.5, +6.5 & +9 seemed restless and was not sleeping when I entered his room.

Hi Sue. Endless number of reasons for testing the way I do--inexperience, desire for data and to understand and master the insulin response, OCD, Helicopter Mom, and just where I am in the learning curve. :D You may have noticed I generally test when he's dropping early and in the blues. Lately my goal has been to keep him from going below 90 as long as possible to avoid reducing doses too early. I have gotten better. Early on, I'd be feeding and testing like a fiend--twice an hour. Now I have slowed down to once an hour usually unless he is dropping fast. Eventually I'll be comfortable enough with where I perceive he is headed and only test every 2 or 3 hours when he's dropping and in the blue. I have decided to keep him at 7u for another week and let him drop a little further [if he will] down to the 90s and even, gasp, :nailbiting: the upper 80s if I can maintain control. We shall see. Thanks Summer! So happy to hear from you. I see where you are commenting from time to time, offering advice and comfort, in various forums. I want to be respectful of this season of grief in your life. I think we may have some similarities in our life situations. While Bama is my only fur baby and the only fur child I have had in my adult life, I live with an aging mother [83] who has some health issues and difficulties. There are many times I feel like I am caregiver to 2 patients, my mom and to Bama. I am not as patient as I should be, sometimes slow to pick up on issues until they blow up in my face, and generally need to do better in a lot of areas. I hope you continue to stop by whenever you feel like doing so. :bighug::bighug:
 
Nice descent into blues here @ +5. Gave him a light snack--a half oz. or so that remained in his FF Mixed Grill can that he started last night and ate again this morning. So far his appetite is holding. Guess we will have to see what happens when the Cerenia wears off.
 
Bama ate some kibble @ +9 so I'm not sure he is hungry. He's right on the borderline of earning a reduction if he drops a few more points. I am working back another 15 minutes on his shot time because last night I was 30 minutes late. I made up 15 minutes of that time this morning and so the remaining 15 is due to get him back on schedule. Should I go ahead with a 0.5u reduction tonight? Reduce more? His Cerenia shot should have worn off within the past hour. I don't have any indication of nausea but have Ondansetron if needed.
 
Under SLGS, you do not shoot if under 90. You have two options, either skip, or if your schedule can include a delay, wait until he's above 90. How long ago did you feed him?
 
Starting feeding at LC FF Chicken Feast @ BG81. He's eating now. Would still like to shoot a token dose. Need advice. He started at 92, then 85 and finally 81 in matter of 40 minutes.

He ate 1T or so of Dr. Elsey's kibble 3 hours ago. Just started feeding FF LC + kibble 5 minutes ago. He is eating well.
 
Tested again after 20 min. & he is at 82. Last week when I took a NS he appeared to have carryover from previous shot for maybe an hour. Hard to tell. Of course, the depo was a factor. He is now an hour past where I want him to be shot/wise so I am taking a no shoot for tonight. Will continue to monitor and feed more LC as necessary. I would imagine a bounce will occur this time. Don't know how long it has been since he touched green.
 
Feed him his regular meal. If you want to boost him, try a good sized drop of honey. But with the insulin wearing off and no shot and dinner, he should start rising.
 
He has eaten his regular meal. I gave another teaspoon of LC wet. Will add a little honey. I told him he may be getting dessert. Must be why he's hanging low. ;)
 
Is he just full or do you think something is wrong? He should start to come up soon since he didn’t get insulin.

I think he is full. He's had 3/4 can of FF chicken feast plus some Dr. Elsey's kibble. He usually eats about 1/2 a can plus the kibble. He didn't like the honey he licked off my finger. I didn't want to try Karo given his recent inappetence. It's been 16 hours since he got his shot. Guess his body hasn't figured that out yet.
