Missed my weekly Caturday post yesterday. I went out for a much needed dose of live music.
Karamelle is up to her usual shenanigans. Up down up down. Shes not eating well and Ive been syringe feeding a lot. Im not really sure what to do about that. It all seems to coincide with her numbers. Too high, not much eating, too low, not much eating, in the middle its a crap shoot. She does eat on her own, but just not enough.
Anyway, hope everyones Thanksgiving was nice. I had a nice meal at a restaurant by the beach with my friends, like we do every year, then walk a bit and go to the French cafe for sweets. I was stuffed!

Thanks for the update. She definitely told you what she thought of the old dose.

Is there any one of the foods listed in her signature that she does like eating? Fussy eating is the worst! She getting ondansetron and/or Cerenia?

I feed her all the foods in my signature. She likes all of them (or not) at any given time. Its really hit or miss if she eats enough in one sitting. If I can get between 175-200 calories in her Im happy. She just ate 32 calories of Fancy Feast. She likes the chicken and liver best I think, although sometimes she likes the fishy ones. I usually feed a Freeze dried nugget for breakfast and she really used to like these, but shes been off them lately. She likes Weruva too, but its also what I use to syringe feed. She ate two meals earlier and only ate 14 calories at one meal and 15 at another one. Ive had to syringe feed twice today. Once this morning at +0.5 and again at about +8.5. She ate half her meal (27 calories of Weruva) at +4 and I syringed the rest. Right now she gets 4mg of Ondansetron am and pm and 1/2 strip of Mirataz am & pm. I did give her a Buprenorphine dose yesterday morning. Not sure if it did any good. I dont have any more at the moment but can get some more. I do give Cerenia occasionally. I guess I could try starting that again every day to see if it makes a difference. Her weight is holding between 12.8 and 13 lbs each time I weigh her, so she must be getting enough to eat.

My panc boy is exactly the same way. I have a TON of different foods because he's so finicky. One food he loves one day he turns his nose up on the next day. It sounds like you're doing everything right though. The only thing we don't know for sure is if they're in pain and should be on pain meds all the time. Pancreatitis is it's own monster, huh? :arghh:

Pancreatitis is no fun, thats for sure. I must be blessed as Ive had 11 cats with it since 2014. Shes the only one I have with it now. The others passed from something else. Im pretty experienced at treating it, but diabetes just throws another curve ball into the mix. I worry about the pain too but do know pain meds can cause a decrease in appetite. I try to use it when I see shes really off. I did start the Cerenia this morning (it can help some with pain) so we'll see how that goes. She barely ate anything this morning so Im about to syringe feed again. Her BG dropped to 148 this morning btw.

You can do ondansetron 3-4 times a day. It doesn't last long enough in a cat to do just twice a day.
I tried it more often but it didnt seem to make a difference. Im trying the Cerenia every day for a while and see how that goes, then I may try the Ondansetron more often again.

Hi Jo. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving!
I give Tiger a half of cerenia twice a day and that has worked the best for him. We’ve tried it various different ways and this woks.
Hope you figure it out with Karamelle.
Have a great week!

Well she ate good this morning so maybe the Cerenia helped or maybe its just because her BG was up to 381 again. We had such a beautiful day yesterday. I just wish it would continue instead of these constant bounces. Oh well, I'll take one good day over no good days.
