Very weird high numbers, I was wondering if it might have been a start of hyperthyroidism control impacting it but found out that the contrary happens usually (a control of hyperT brings BG down and the risk of hypoglycemia rises).

No fur shot, I’m pretty confident.

It might then be the insuline vial, right? I started it on October 23, almost 2 months ago.
What do you all think?

Aida is seeing a 4th vet today, hopefully she’ll become her primary vet!

Many many thanks!

Omg it went well!!!
I think I’ve found the primary vet I need!

Overall she finds Aida’s case interesting, not overwhelming. We talked quite a bit about the IM’s focus on Aida’s diabetes, and we both came to the conclusion that he probably thought I was not following any vet’s advice. Otherwise, she confirmed that he’s one of the best for all GI things.

She thought that he might want Aida to go into remission in order to be able and put her under for the biopsy, which makes sense. So, once her T4 is stabilised, she proposed to do a DM food trial for 2 months, see if she really goes into remission and biopsy her then. She said that, since I’m so concerned for her kidneys, I could give her the DM food with a phosphorus binder.

Overall, she found Aida not showing her age. The vet tec was “she’s 10, not 16!”
And we’ll see about doing I 131, she has yet another address in Europe that does individualised dosing.

She took some blood for a fructosamine and some other things and didn’t charge me for it…!

And apparently, few vets have BP monitors for pets here. So, at some point, we’ll bring her to cardiologist vet she trusts for a heart u/s and BP measurement.

I feel that she covered everything, which is amazing!

That is great that you found a vet you like!
I don't understand why they could not do an anesthesia if she has insulin? Maybe they are not used to it.
Good luck with the trial! IS the DM food the Purina one that we have in the US? If so, it's very high in glucose, around 22% if I remember well. It gave my cat diarrhea but vets, here at least, always bring it up as the best course of treatment for diabetic cats. I don't agree and I think it must be because Purina is their source of data about nutrition and they believe it, but it does not make sense to give something so high in glucose to a diabetic, in my opinion. But maybe we're not talking about the same food.
As for the vial, I know some people keep them for a very long time. I buy pens now because they don't last as long and I prefer it. it made me nervous when I had a vial for months!
