How dare you get below 200!! As she is thrust back to an all yellow day in cycles 3/4 at 7U. It did roll downhill so far and thankfully we weren’t in pink at amps. It was close, whew!

Top it off with a “slightly enlarged heart” per chest xray today, which is rewarded by a soon to be scheduled visit to a cardiologist for an echo. Seemed like a slight protrusion of right aorta. May be a false alarm, but negative nellie here thinks not. Also sent urine for culture and blood taken for repeat IGF-1 test. Should I need to get it repeated in future, they agreed to help me send to MSU on my own to save $.

Minner says ENOUGH!

Thanks again for all the support yesterday. I hope to need it again soon and get out of yellow back to blue. Tomorrow is a new day.

Minner's idea of a bounce is yellow, her comfort zone.

An echo is a good idea. Neko had a murmur so off we went for an echo. Her heart was just marginally outside of normal size, but with Maine Coon heritage it wasn't a surprise. The murmur turned out to be a benign age related thing. But that baseline echo came in handy later. Especially should that IGF-1 turn out positive - but I hope not. You shouldn't need another IGF-1 after this. At least she didn't show vet stress in her BG's.

Keeping paws crossed for good lab results.

Thank you Wendy. I sure hope Minner’s heart situation turns out to be just normal, but a little large. Sigh. I always thought she had a bit of exercise intolerance. Even as a kitten, if I overdid it with red laser dot playtime we could get some open mouth breathing.

I had read somewhere that if IGF-1 positive, you want heart checked out before anesthesia for CT. I guess anytime anesthesia is needed, but it sounded like especially in IGF-1 cases b/c heart more likely to be affected. Live and Learn.

Yes, I’ve heard maine coon and ragdoll may have predisposition to heart conditions. Did Neko like water … as in actually getting wet? I’ve heard that about them, that they will swim, get in showers, etc. :)

We’re at amps of 223 for 12/17 !! Uh oh. This is right at same amps for her all blue day 2 days ago. Fingers crossed …. Blue Blue Blue, gentle, rolling curve please. More to come in 12/17 post later.

She wasn't fully Maine Coon though. She liked to wait for me outside the shower, and lick legs when I stepped out. The only time she went swimming, was when she fell in the tub when walking around the edge. I was in the tub at the time.
