We're back from the vet! We made it there and back w/o vomiting. Since I couldn't give him treats or anything this morning, we skipped testing and only gave him 2.5 units (vs 4). We weren't sure if and when he'd eat today.
They took the blood but most likely won't have results until late next week. She went ahead and gave us anti-nausea medication to start today. If that doesn't help his appetite, we have a stimulant we can start him on, as well. She also went ahead and gave us the prednisolone to possibly start later this week if we don't feel like the anti-nausea is enough. She said we will most likely be starting that once we get the results, anyway. She's starting him on a very low dose for now so we're hoping it doesn't cause too much of a spike in his blood sugar.
She said it could be lymphoma even though the aspirates they sent in a couple of weeks ago were negative. She said she doesn't think that it is lymphoma, but she has to warn us that it is a possibility and that the only way to know for sure would be to do exploratory surgery. She (and we) think it's just pancreatitis, though. We're going to hold at 4 units for now unless we see ketones in his urine.
So, we'll see how this round of meds go! He's very jumpy and is hiding a lot. He's breaking my heart.
