I have no idea what's going on with Molly's numbers - they are just so high. Today looks high and flat which is making me (again) consider that the dose may be too high. The dose was just increased so i will hold it but she's one to generally show immediate results following a dose change. Any advice sure would be appreciated. Thanks, Michele

Michele, I saw that you changed dose, started a new vial AND are back to the GNP syringes - a lot of variables to sort out. I guess I would give her a cycle or two to settle. She did have better numbers on 2.25u before, but were you unsure what dh was dosing then?

Thanks for responding Shelia.

Yes, twas a lot of variables - kinda all just happened at once (out of insulin in cart, new syringes arrived). As for my darling husband's dosing,,,oh no, he was basically dosing the correct amount, it was his "hey, did you ever notice how many air bubbles are in these syringes? You don't think it makes a difference do you?" Meanwhile, half the syringe was really just a huge a$$ air bubble! How the man can be so smart and yet so...oh never mind. Yeah, the Walmart syringes and us just weren't a good match. I should have never switched from the GNP syringes (which we're back to now thankfully).

Still no spell check ay? :)

Was your old cartridge almost gone? Old school thought was to recurve at some point soon after starting a new vial/cartridge as the potency might have changed slightly.

She's had the best cycles on 2U or 2.25U but it doesn't seem to hold. What about the area on her body you're giving the shots, as Melissa discovered, that can make a difference as the insulin is absorbed differently I guess. I'm not very good at explaining the process. Read this: http://www.diabeteshealth.com/read/2007 ... ifference/

Yes 300s are certainly frustrating. She should have had better results on the stretch of 2.25U you did at the beginning of the month as it looked promising a few times (the 100s mid cycle), but how much of that was inconsistency between how you & Will draw the insulin? Her numbers right now could be simply from so much dose changing recently.

Hang in there, Michele. Remember, it's probably easier to go down a half unit and work back up than to keep rising and getting the same resulting high numbers. Do you have ketone test strips on hand?

Hey Michele, I feel for ya... been there with Poppy and wonder what is going on??? Eventually it seems to settle and he gets good numbers again for awhile. As long as you're sure there is no infection of any kind - teeth, uti... I would wait it out another cycle or two and if nothing changes drop the dose back down again and see what happens.

Well, as you know I am from the school of thought to raise until you see a breakthrough especially with these longer term diabetic cats, but of course, that comes strictly from my own experience with Tigger so may not even apply to your Molly.

But now that you are home for a bit maybe worth a try? I know it is always hard to get spot checks when you go back to work.

and the numbers continue to climb. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, her behavior is great,,she's eating, acting lovey and purring like a well built motor. My poor fat girl! Her pmps is in half an hour, seriously crossing fingers that maybe we can at least see a high 200 - the continuous high 300's are killing me.
