Ming's been flat yellow today and he did see some green 3 cycles ago. But I've been holding this dose for a while and itching to increase.

I'm thinking about fattening the dose or should I do a full 0.25u increase?

In regards to his BW and recent "diagnoses": I spoke to the Main Vet today. She doesn't want to treat the proteinuria until we get 2 more consistently elevated UCPR values because she sees both fortekor and semintra causing more kidney crises than good. She says she doesn't like treating it when the value is under 1 (Ming is at 0.9 and normal is 0 - 0.2). So we're doing UCPR tests at 2 weeks and 4 weeks. Curious to know what you guys think.

She also said NWNM always tells them to recheck t4 in a month. That's some interesting tidbit of info.

Thank you, Ella! I'm sorry about your kitty but appreciate you chiming in. Fortunately, my city has a facility (North West Nuclear Medicine/NWNM) that does i-131 treatments on cats. I also saw on their website them linking Mark Peterson's blog. I also had the opportunity to meet a few techs and vets from there when they came to do a Lunch 'n' Learn at the clinic I work at. It really seemed like an awesome place for the cats to spend a few days at despite having to be radiated haha!

I'll look into reading Mark Peterson's blog this weekend :) Thank you again

Mark Peterson’s blog has all sorts of interesting articles on endocrine conditions, including acromegaly and I seem to remember IAA. Can’t remember, been a while. @Dyana had her civvie Ginger go to Mark Peterson’s Clinic for i131.

As for UPCR, my vet also waited for two tests out of range. But she treated over 0.5, as did the IM vet at Canada West. Neko started treatment after a pair of tests at 0.8. But she did a low dose. Some cats see higher creatinine with benazapril, Neko did not.

Let’s see how tonight goes before changing his dose.

You are welcome. All of Stu's diseases seemed to come on at the same time, in the early summer of 2010. He was, apparently, very good at hiding his condition. But our vet at the time dragged his feet and I didn't get Stu's test results and application to Hypurrcat (Dr. Peterson's clinic) until it was late in the game. Stu was too weak to undergo the I-131 treatment. And then we discovered that in addition to CKD and HyperT (and, of course, diabetes, which he had had for 5 years) he also had cancer.

I'm sure Ming will be in good hands at your Vancouver clinic. The I-131, if you decide to go that route, is a much more common treatment now than it was 10 years ago. Keeping you in our thoughts.

Thanks Lyane! I really hope his UCPR is lower. I'd rather deal with hyperT4 because the meds for proteinuria scare me :arghh:

@Wendy&Neko Oohh can't wait to read his blog! And I'll put my patience pants on and hope to see some action tonight. I'm about to go on another month of night shifts so I don't mind training to stay up all night early lol!
