2/17 Max amps 364 +2 258 +5 123 +7 103 +9 177 pmps 396

I went back to sleep this morning after amps, so I didn’t feed the curve to slow him down today. I can see that it does work feeding him that way. This new dose has helped too. He’s already shot back up so it will probably be another bad bounce though. I’m feeling better today after starting the RX the doctor gave me yesterday. Hope he doesn’t bounce too high but I do have the R if we need to start that @Wendy&Neko it’s the Novolin R. I guess we will see what happens and how I’m feeling at that time. If we need to wait until another day, then we will do that.

I don’t like that pmps, but not surprised. When this guy bounces he means business. I’m thinking I need to rest and get well anyway. My feeling better and bursts of energy evidently come in spurts and I have no appetite so I’m a little weak. I’ll get well before I tackle anything else right now.

We'll pick a time when you are feeling better and I'm available. Typically people start with a test at PS (as usual) and testing each hour for the first 4 hours. You want to find the R onset and nadir. Eventually you'll be able to figure out how the R action will layer on top of the Lev (L) action and know how to avoid big drops with the two working together. Today's AM cycle is definitely one you would not want to have used R, it was fast enough drop by L alone. The rule of thumb is that you don't want the BG to lower more than 100 points over the course of R's action. Those drops from fast drops can cause even higher bounces and the last thing you want is causing bounces by using R. I've seen people get into a vicious dive bounce cycle by using R. Sometimes the best course is just not to use R.

Once you get a better feel for the R action, you'll be able to use it in the last half of the cycle, not so much to lower numbers, but to cap the height of the bounces.

Sounds good Wendy. I completely understand. I’d already thought about the fast drops he has on the Lev (sometimes) and the fact the R onset is quick so that would cause the bouncing to get worse. The past couple of days before I got sick I was trying to test at least up until +4 to see what he does and also feed to slow it down. The thing he does that throws me off is sometimes when bounces, or looks like he’s going to bounce, he changes his mind, so I’m still trying to follow his patterns. I would like to learn to use R though for lowering the height of the bounce, as you said. I will let you know when I’m feeling better and see when your schedule can accommodate us. All of the info you’ve given me is very helpful.
