Woohoo! Praise the Lord! Kai's appetite is back this morning! He even woke me up this morning letting me know that it was time for breakfast. I'm guessing he is feeling really hydrated after those fluids last night.

Per Laura's (Minner's mom) suggestion, I'm going to try and keep a check on his respiratory rate today just to be safe.

I hope everyone has a nice calm and lazy Sunday! :bighug:

Woohoo indeed! :D. He feeling better today?

Neko's RR rate was a good indicator of how she was doing. Normal is 20-30, but for Neko, 26 and above was too high. Testing now for Kai will give a good baseline. I waited the full minute and counted all the breaths. The timer on your phone helps.

It's so worrying when they don't want to eat, isn't it?!
I can imagine your joy when Kai woke yu up for breakfast.
Wishing you a lovely Sunday :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Much better today! After all the scary news and the unknowns from yesterday it was such a relief to wake up to him ready to eat this morning.

I checked his RR a couple times today while he was either asleep or just chilling and hanging out. I used my phone to record his stomach and count his breaths for a full 60 seconds. It made it easier to go back and review and make sure I didn't miscount. He stayed between 22 and 28. The higher numbers were when he wasn't actually asleep, but just chillin. It was funny, at one point he was sitting on the bench looking out the window, minding his own business, and I was trying to record his stomach and stare him down and not loose count and he was like "Servant woman, why are you in my personal space? I did not call for you. Go away." He is not an affectionate cat. Never has been. Very independent personality. But I love him.

Anyways, tomorrow we go back for an ultrasound and we will have to fast again. Joy.

Also, I got his labs back and posted them to his spreadsheet. Some of the ranges used on the spreadsheet lab template are different from the ranges that my vet used. Does anyone know when the last time that was updated?

I’ve had labs run over the last few years, some in house, some with IDEXX, but different labs have different reference ranges. I’d just enter in the normal ranges in a separate column on your labs sheet, since the test results you got are relevant and should be interpreted to your lab’s reference ranges.

Sounds like his RR is just fine today.:)

Lab values change over time. I've also had labs done by different labs that each had different reference ranges. Just update the ranges to be what is listed in your blood work.

Paws crossed for the next set of blood work. You can get just a Chem panel to redo the kidney numbers. It's a bit cheaper.
