He is starting lower so hopefully it will be an active cycle. Do you feed at +1?
If he dives at +2, feed a little MC then but he may not need any later. The idea is to keep him in green as long as possible. Feeding MC at +3, seems to send him up to blue.
If your MC is 16% (which is HC), you could mix some LC. The idea is to feed 12% at +2 to slow the dive. Feeding a little LC at +1 might also do that.
