So it seems that Chispa, the delicate flower of the cat world, has started waiting for an exact moment to poop at night. Approximately one minute and twenty-seven seconds after I get into bed and turn off the lights, I hear the crunch of litter compacting under her tiny paws as she steps into the box, followed by the unmistakable "scratch ... scratch scratch ... scratchety-scratch-scratch" of her preparing the perfect spot to deposit the Shinola. Then there's a moment of silence, followed by a waft of scent far too fragrant to ignore. I pry my weary eyeballs open and make my way to the litterbox to do cleanup in Aisle 7. This has been our nightly ritual for the past several weeks. I thought it was just my luck at first, but it's becoming clear that the timing is much too precise to be a coincidence.
Cat humor.
