Good morning LLanders!! ~O)

Morris sailed through on blue yesterday....not much of a rebound from a hypo 26. flip_cat He graciously gave me his stool sample when I got up with him at 4:00 a.m. so I can drop it off at the new vet this morning. Still waiting on the other P. :?

Re: 2/3 Morris AMPS 195

Fantastic day y'day, Morris, but that 26 would have me nailbite_smile - all good though, now.

So what's on the menu for today, Morris? Got any plans? Just a suggestion, but you DO look quite fine in the blues ... just sayin'

Let's hope you get some good kind of report on the stool; do you know how long until you will hear back?
Just wondering.

Nice blues, tiny bounce, today has got to be another good one I bet.

Re: 2/3 Morris AMPS 195

Thanks Gayle,
Morris is taking note of your comments and thinking about them...blue or green, I don't care!

The results from the sample should be done within the same day I would think....even my old vet could manage that! cat(2)_steam

Re: 2/3 Morris AMPS 195

I hope the poo problems get sorted out. It doesn't look like Morris' numbers are suffering, despite the poo issues.

Re: 2/3 Morris AMPS 195

Wow, lots of excitement yesterday. Hey, is this his bounce? I guess he didn't want to be jumping very high, I love that! And good luck with the poo. Sheesh... the only two places I've been where poo talk is expected and welcomed is when you are talking about babies or FD kitties. Hahaha!!

Re: 2/3 Morris AMPS 195

Morning Brenda! Glad to see Morris is coming back to himself!! Nice amps in blue--Yeah! for the poo--Come on Morris with the pee--Oh what lovely lives we lead! Hope all is well..HUGS from Us~!

Re: 2/3 Morris AMPS 195

Morris is looking good today, not much bounce.

I read yesterday's post, and here are my thoughts to your vet's opposition to raw food. It's a cynical response, but it's all I've got. I think the big pet food companies are a lot like pharmaceutical companies. They wine and dine the vet's and in exchange the vet's promote their products. I just don't trust a company promoting a dry diet with carbs for diabetic cats when there is so much evidence to show that dry food causes/exacerbates FD.

I also heard the "salmonella" danger response from our old vet, in addition to: "Purina has spent millions of dollars perfecting this diet for diabetic cats". I've read that the digestive track in cats is much smaller than humans, so small in fact, that the food isn't in there long enough for bacteria like Salmonella to grow. I guess in an immune suppressed animal, this might be different, but for a relatively healthy animal, I don't think it's an issue. When feeding raw, you have to be careful of handling, to be sure you don't contaminate anything the beans might consume and also use common sense (keep refrigerated, don't leave it out for longer than 1/2 hour). Our new vet said she was opposed to the raw diet because she didn't think there was a commercial mix available that provides all of the necessary nutrients for kitties. As long as you know the mix is adequate, if it might help the IBS, I think it's definitely worth a try.

hello, meet the worst housekeeper in the world ... me

i'm fairly careful in handling and not contaminating, i think. but w.r.t. leaving raw food out for only 1/2 hr, when we were feeding raw, the food gets left out all day (the hoover-civviekitty gobbled it up in minutes, the grazer-sugarkitty took her own sweet time). sometimes dried-out unfinished bits stay on plates/bowls for them to snack on, through the next day(s)/night(s), until one of the beans gets exasperated enough to go around picking up plates/bowls, which is usually around the time we realize there are no more clean dishes. likewise, with raw hearts and gizzards that we still feed as snacks - they're left out in the morning, overnight if unconsumed, until the next snack is served. hasn't seem to have bothered either kitty so far *antijinx*

your distinction between healthy and immunocompromised kitties is a good one to make though; both were fairly healthy at that time (one sugarkitty and one civvie), although through one phase, meowzi the sugarkitty was recovering from two surgeries six weeks apart. i actually credit the raw diet with the remarkable recovery she made from both surgeries. we did stop feeding raw during her chemo treatments; her oncologist was worried about her immunocompromised state then.

Re: 2/3 Morris AMPS 195, +7 108, PMPS 215, & Vet Update

In looking over my LB Log...everyone has one, don't they???...I realized that Morris had not peed since 24 hours previous. I was so worried about the poo, I neglected the pee situation. ohmygod_smile I had to drop off a stool sample at the new vet and mentioned it to them that he hadn't peed in over 24 hours and they insisted that I bring him right in.

I ran home to get him only to find that he had peed while I was gone. Called them up and told them but said I wanted to get a C&S urine draw done on him anyway because I suspected he could have a UTI...have seen him in the LB with no results and assumed it was poo, not pee, that was having a hard time coming. Took him in and they sedated him to give him a good thorough exam and to get the C&S. Vettybean said the urine looked clear to her, was hardly any there. Gave him a good going-over while he was out...his teeth are fine, just yellow, no problem areas to note. His heart, lungs, bladder all feel good to her. She expressed his anal glands again....said they were still full....hard to believe after the gunk they got out just a couple of weeks ago. Just to be safe, she gave him SQuids as she said the sedation had a hydrating effect.

The fecal came back negative for any parasites....yay! dancing_cat I am following drs orders and feeding only EVO 95% chicken, giving metronidazole and also cipro for appy stimulation as he's back to not eating very well.

When we came home, we both hit the couch for a nap...he slept like a log on my chest for over two hours...I was ready to get up after one but hated to disturb him, he was sleeping so soundly. cat_pet_icon Then he proceeded out to the porch and spent the next three hours out there....brought him in for his evening shot, pill, etc. and he went right back out there, where he is right now. Hope that cipro kicks in soon.

Also found out that they board cats in a hospital area there, which is good to know, because I am SO ready for a vacation!!!! haha_smiley

Glad all checked out okay. Hope you have a good night and Morris turns around completely. Vacation, what is that? With 7 cats and 2 horses, that does not happen here.

WHEW!!! So happy Morris is OK!..been through a lot, both of you!!--Happy Happy that Morris the king is doing OK! dancing_cat flip_cat dancing_cat
