re whether the lantus is ok, buy a small fridge thermometer at cvs or another pharmacy, okay? put it next to your lantus and that'll tell you if it gets too cold.

what works for me, tho i haven't heard this from anyone else, is the smell. if my lantus smells really strongly of bacon, it has gone bad. lantus has a distinctly different smell. you could always bring it back to the pharmacy for replacement if you're worried about it this soon after opening.

Thanks for these ideas. I'll get the thermometer.

Bacon!! :o The Lantus smells like stinky Lantus -- that's good, right? I always overfill the syringe to get rid of the bubbles, and it had that distinctive odor, as always.

Kitty's numbers ARE a little higher in the morning -- but not at night.

So keep watching? How would I know if the lantus were bad? Would his numbers be going way up?

Thanks.

most likely the numbers would rise, and that would suck cuz Kitty is doing so well.

stinky bacon? Ive never heard of that - lol!! Would u like eggs with that stinky lantus?

Bacon? That just cracked me up... still laughing! But it is good to know for you Lantus users. (I used Levemir which to me, had a plastic-like smell, not especially stinky.)

Kitty is SO beautifully regulated and her SS a work of (green) art that Kitty should be the 'poster child' for how to regulate a cat on insulin.
