24/8 Shakti AMPS 272 +3 221 +5 218

Hi all.

Well, new Libre placed this morning and new data is in. Poor babe -hates- the Libre placement, but it saves her a bunch of stress of multiple blood tests and makes for better insights into how much she is spiking.
Her curve is -remarkably- steady, but high, now that I have I introduced the new food. So I'm thinking I may need to dial it down slightly, and/or only give the higher carb in the morning before shots and taper off in the afternoon? I probably need to tweak it until I find the proper way to make for steady greens.
Any input and experiences are welcomed :)

Hi Fae, it’s good you can watch the trends and then make adjustments based on the data.
It seems reasonable to feed higher carbs early in the cycle then taper down later in the cycle as insulin is waning.

I hope Shakti leaves the Libre alone 🙏
Glad you installed it successfully 🥰

Yes it seems that this is a good way to go. That would probably soften the drop and make the line sort of glide down, if my estimations are correct.
I am glad to see, however that at least at the moment there is hardly any zigzagging. The graph looks very constant! And she is getting a large variety of different foods haha

I would stop feeding the higher carbs by mid cycle unless Max was still low then. He was very carb sensitive. If he wasn’t green or slowish green by then I had to stop feeding him. Your instincts are good I think. I’m glad she’s feeling better.

Feeding so soon to preshot can give you a food influenced preshot number. We usually suggest you pick up food 2 hours before preshot. Is there a reason why you are feeding so late?

After nadir, or the low point in the cycle, the insulin effect is fading. Meaning it has to work harder to keep the numbers down. If you add carbs after nadir, the insulin can wear off even sooner. This is a loss of duration and can cause preshot numbers to zoom up. Summary of the above, try to avoid feeding after mid cycle, and if you have to feed, keep it as low a carb as possible. Of course, if Shatki goes into low numbers, then that is the exception to the feeding guideline.

An observation, your spreadsheet isn't showing any PM numbers the last couple nights. Couldn't you test with the hand held meter those nights?

Waking up times mostly, and evening routine. I can feed earlier though.

Ah yes I am noticing that now because she is trending upward into high numbers... Should I still feed higher carb pre pm shot then or after?

I had no Libre those nights and cannot interrupt sleep for testing. Now it is back on.
