One good thing about the time change: Leroy isn't screaming his head off and walking all over me for breakfast. One bad thing: Without Leroy screaming and walking over me, I hit the button that turns off the alarm clock and oversleep  Civvie is happy to snooze until I get up.

Has anyone in the US tried those coupons on GoodRx? I was comparing prices and the only Lantus I can get to show up is the box of 5 for $35 with a printable coupon (wow! It used to be $150+ back when I had Squishy and no coupons were available then). I couldn't get a price for a single pen. The vet hospital charged $70 for the pen I currently have.

I’ve had success with the below advice by having that prescription worded precisely as indicated and then taking the Sanofi coupon you generate from their site. I took it to a CVS. I paid $35 for a box of 5 pens.
My usual pharmacy wouldn’t honor that goodRx coupon since it says it’s only for humans. (But some people have had success with GoodRx so who knows).

Thanks! I've heard (maybe long ago here on FDMB) that if the pharmacist asks who the prescription is for, reply that it is for "a child" or "family member". Supposedly the pharmacist can't ask for more information. Obviously this won't work if the name on the prescription is clearly not a name a person would have (Snookums Mitten Boots).

I have a Costco membership and get Olivers Lantus there. When you have a membership and no health insurance Costco will discount the prescription. Their discounted price for a 10ml vial of Lantus is $70. They also went out of their way to apply a coupon which brought the price down to $35.

What!! This is great news. I will try this next. (I paid $105 for 5 Lantus pens)

I used to pay just over $100 every month for a bottle of Lantus when I had Squishy before I switched to pens. The bottle just doesn't last more than a month even refrigerated.

Is Costo still allowing non-members to use the pharmacy? I heard Costco was changing some policies.

The budesonide doesn't seem to be keeping bgs up as usual. I'll get a test before bed, should be +5 or 6 No MC on hand but I'll add a bit of corn syrup to LC if needed.

I’m just finishing a bottle of Lantus that I began in October. I feel it’s been completely fine. Ivy is seeing green and doing quite well on it.
I should be switching back to a pen once my bottle ends since that’s next up in my supply.

I'm trying the 5 Lantus pens for only $35 at Walmart soon. I'll let you know how it goes. With Walmart, they have Pet accounts, that is part of my family account, so they are fully aware it's for feline.

Let's see if that card works... I think it's really who you happen to get at the window.

@Staci & Ivy thanks for continuing to spread the word and saving us money. I swear it should be a sticky the top of all forums. I can not believe how much money we have been paying for insulin when it costs like $7 to make it.

Glad to help spread the word. I agree. It should be a sticky. Cost of insulin is essential and everyone should know how to get it as reasonably as possible! Thanks for your support @Jason - Kona's Dad

While this is not “sticky” material, I can discuss with the other moderators whether we want to make this an Info post or not and put it in the Health FAQ. There is a post there about getting insulin from Canadian pharmacies and I can probably revise that to add this information.

thanks everyone!

Thank you so much!! That would be so great to help more members :)
This route is much less expensive and easier to obtain than going through Canada, which is a bit tricky and takes a good bit of time (I’ve tried that route).

.
I got my Lantus at Walmart in Jan. this year. I had the $35 Lantus coupon for 5 pens but they would only give me one. I think it had something to do with how the vet wrote the prescription. Im going to see if the vet can write a new one and try again for 5 pens when I get low. But I still have about a 3rd left in the pen.
