Good afternoon :)

Fistuk had quite a strong stretto breath last night. Today is grey and quite windy and he berried himself under the blanket.

But after breakfast I took him out of his comfort zone )aka his Bimi poof) and encouraged him to play. He did some old Fituk air flips and it was a real joy. I poured my heart a bit yesterday to @Tiger(GA) and Ruth... I'm realising I'm struggling emotionally with managing everything I have on my plat plus not having proper sleep for a few good months now. It's taking its toll.

I would love for Fistuk to go into remission. But I think my first goal now is to get him more mobile and independent. he really does not eat much if the plate is left for him. He only eats when I hold the plate for him or scoop it for him with a spoon.

This morning's encouragement to move more paid off and he came to me when I had my breakfast, asking for his favourite butter. It was really sweet.

I haven't had another go with th auto feeder. I will try again when I'm not at home. I don't hold my breath. But I'll give it a try.

I'm thinking of raising to 2.5U @Bandit's Mom @Angela & Cleo @tiffmaxee thoughts?

Wishing you all a wonderful day :bighug::bighug:

Good afternoon, Shelly, I’m so happy to hear Fistuk enjoyed a little butter treat and did some flips. All great normal behavior.
I know you’re feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. (I can relate to your feelings).
All we can do is take it day by day and do the best we can every day. We hope and pray for remission but we have to take it one day at a time and try to help them feel as well as they can.
You’re doing such a great job and he has come so far since you arrived here. You’re his best advocate and you do it so well. You should be so proud of yourself.

Be kind to yourself, this is a very hard job. Sending you lots of love and support :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

May I ask when was his last Vet visit and was his breathing addressed at it?
You do have room for an increase. Overall his numbers look good though and if it were me, I would balance that with the need for self-care.

I also am concerned about the breathing as it could be a heart issue. I’d make a vet appointment. He’s too young to not want to move much and it could be something easily treated. Can you get a video of his breathing to take to the vet?

I dint have scientific proof but I do think a history of pancreatitis can be remission less likely. Perhaps it’s because I could not get Max there.

While you have room for an increase, I think as long as he’s well controlled, like he is, you need to catch up on your sleep before you increase and need to stay up at night. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I know you understand me deeply, Staci :) I appreciate your ind words and encouragement.
I want to start thinking about the summer because I know it'll take some planning. I really need a break and need to figure out how this could be possible. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Angela :)
We have a new vet who does home visits. She's been here a couple of weeks ago.
I didn't bring the breath matter with her. Simply didn't think about it mainly because it's not present all the time and there's so much to mention :banghead:
He's been having upper respiratory track infection on and off most of his life. It comes with teary eyes.
vets used to give him AB for this. It has destroyed!!! his gut.
I give him L lysine regularly now. I'm not sure it makes a difference.
It normally passes after a day or two.

I try to balance it as much as possible. But Fistuk wakes me up at night to feed him. No matter if I leave a plate of food next to him. If his not on the bed with me he'll come next to me , meow so I feed him. If he's on the bed with me, which he is most nights, I find it easier to handle with testing and for sure I can't leave a plate for him on the bed.

He's never been a great eater, way before FD. I always needed to run after him with a plate of food so he'd eat.
Dry food was easier, he'd wake up at night and go to the plate and have some biscuits. But now..... no dry food makes it more complicated :bighug::bighug::bighug:

The vet was here recently. I'm not suspecting the heart really but I can def give her a call and ask.
Between neuropathy and arthritis I think he began to feel uneasy with moving The vet said he needs to regain trust in his ability to move. Just a couple of weeks ago he surprised and trued jumping on the bed and he fell. Since then he didn't try again.

She teaches me different excursuses to do with him so he stretches more and rebuilds his muscle mass.

I do increases on Friday since I'm home on the weekends and have time to catch up with naps. But I prefer to get the question out there before hand so I can plan and prepare.

Hi Shelly, I love the photo of you and Fistuk! I can just see how much he loves you and vice versa! :joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful: Giving up the dry food is awfully difficult I know, but I do believe he will learn to eat on his own, cats know these things! How long does it take to travel from where you are to Italy in order to see your mother in law? That sounds like a wonderful trip. I hope that at some point you get more comfortable with finding a caregiver, either like a boarding at the vet or pet sitter that would allow for such travel, it may help with the stress you feel handling all of this! But only on your own timeframe!!! In the meantime, you are doing an awesome job with Fistuk! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

What a sweet picture, Shelly.:kiss::kiss:
He's absolutely treasuring it!
You are such an awesome mom for him. You have done so much to figure things out for him and keep going!
Hope the vet consult will go well and you figure things out
Sending you positive :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you for your kind and gentle words, Ruth xx
Yes we love each other very deeply. I'm very connected to him.

It takes 6 hours one way to my mother in law. In case of an emergency I can just drive back.
I will be looking for someone to stay over here. Perhaps a student that0s looking to stay in Zurich and take care of Fistuk in exchange for accommodation. We have. very comfortable flat in a beautiful green and quiet neighbourhood and it's only an hour from city centre by public transport.

I can't think of taking him out of the house. This will stress him greatly. And I also have Prince, his brother, to think about. They're so attached to each other, I won't separate them. When Fistuk was hospitalised Prince was so worried and distressed.

I'll get there. I need to since I need to think of this journey long term and I will need to recharge.

I have a wonderful cat sitter who learned how to test and jab. She's very reliable and trusted. She lives nearby but staying over is not so possible since she has a dog. But maybe someone staying over and the sitter coming once or twice a day will make me feel less anxious.
Thanks for your support :bighug::bighug::bighug:
