AMBG - 85

Yesterday Mac was the most like himself. Alert, bright, squirmy getting blood taken.

He ate the Tuna Squeeze Ups. In testing his appetite he ate a teeny bit of FF pate. Then I tried some Dr. Elsey's LC Kibble (CleanProtein). He loved it. He ate about 25 pieces and then I held off to see what it did to his BG. His AMBG was higher this morning.

I am thrilled to see his appetite returning (he is still on Mirtzapine every 48 hrs). He had not eaten on his own except for Squeeze ups for almost 4 weeks. He hated syringe feeding but I managed to keep his weight steady. I will continue to offer LC wet but am also keen for him to get some nutrition beyond the Squeeze ups.

I suspect this is a slippery slow so I will tread cautiously.

I saw you asked about low carb dry food. It is worth a try BUT some cats spike even on low carb dry. You can try Young Again. They will send you a sample if you go to their site. It is online only. You could also try Dr. Elsey’s.

Good to see an interest in food. Happy Day 7!

Thanks! Yes I had gotten samples of both a few days ago in preparation. I see Young Again may be lower in carbs. It is a slippery slope and I am testing more frequently. He was 60 at +4 so that is good.

I am still going to push for wet but needed him to eat something to give me hope.

Thanks

I think it’s worth a try. Was he a dry food junkie before? Will he eat cooked chicken or turkey that you make without seasoning? I think Origen might make a low carb dry too. Not sure which product.

Yes he was and stubborn!! Good and bad he never liked human food. Never snacked, etc. So cooked meats don’t attract him!
