:nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

He didn't eat much of his snacks last night. They were from the same bag as dinner which he ate. He was also sitting oddly with his back legs spread out. He ate breakfast and his ears seemed a little flat on his head. The vet's secretary got an update and talked to the vet to get a plan for the weekend. Right now the vet says give Cerenia if needed. The vet's secretary has to get the dose for me and get a refill for Mirataz. Leroy's not nauseous. I hope I don't have to bring Leroy in to the ER tonight or over the weekend :nailbiting:

I left the vet's secretary a message about pain meds. Normally I would take the day off work or at least leave as soon as my work is done but with this new job I can't really do that because of Tiger Mom :nailbiting::nailbiting: She's head of the lab and also Director of the Institute and a bunch of other departments and is a busy no-nonsense person who is not very friendly and tends to interrogate people :nailbiting:

I’m sorry he might have pancreatitis again. Why do you say he’s not nauseous? Inappetence is a classic sign. Max was always nauseous if he had a flare. He rarely vomited. If you give an appetite stimulant to a nauseous cat you run the risk of developing food aversions to what they are eating if it even works. Just my experience.

He ate breakfast just fine this morning. Last night he picked at his snacks even though he ate dinner just fine. He's not lip smacking. The vet trusts me to give the Cerenia if Leroy needs it based on symptoms.

Mirataz is ready for pick up. The bupe is pending. If I need it (hopefully not :nailbiting:) I just have to call the hospital's pharmacy and tell them to fill it.

I wonder if I should temporarily stop the Visibiome? He's getting ~1/4 capsule once daily. Not sure if it really helps his digestive system anyways I haven't noticed any improvement since starting it and it's been a few weeks. His dry crumbly poop does stink less but that's about it.

He's on a freeze dried raw diet in rabbit.

I just called the vet's secretary. I went down the rabbit hole in the Merck Veterinary Manual:p I want the vet's opinion on whether Leroy might have exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and whether we should test for that or assume he does have it (and avoid a vet trip) and treat. Pancreatic enzymes are supposed to be helpful to treat it. Leroy already gets monthly B12 injections, another suggested treatment. Vet has an appointment now and then a visitor after that so I probably won't hear from him until later.

Vet update. There is a blood test for EPI but it requires a 12 hour fast. Not sure how that will work with a diabetic cat :confused: We'll hold off on any testing for now and see how Leroy does over the weekend.

I
I believe she would have diarrhea rather than be constipated and losing weight even though eating but I’m not 109% sure on that.

He ate most of dinner on his own. I had to encourage him to finish the last bit with some of civvie's food mixed in. He's napping now and generally seems ok.

Leroy had soft pudding poop before I started Visibiome.

I'm sorry. I hate work situations like this. I'm also sorry for Leroy, and hope that he's not heading down the P-track.

It's snack time. Leroy took one look at it walked away even though he wanted to eat :confused: I got half a Cerenia into him and then he ate most of the snack :rolleyes: He'll want another snack in an hour or so. I have FortiFlora to use if needed.

I looked into pancreatic enzymes. Most are made from beef or pork. Leroy has an allergy to both :facepalm: Is there one made with rabbit or something? The vet journal articles I've been reading also suggest fresh raw pancreas but good luck sourcing that. Hare-Today only has beef pancreas.

You dint want to add enzymes unless he has EPI. There’s a blood test for that. Max had pancreatitis from age 12-19. He didn’t have Epi.
