Good morning! Im having a terrible problem with bubbles recently. Its so frustrating. They seem to form right at the top just as I push up the insulin. I cant flick it when the insulin is pulled farther down or the insulin just spreads out all over the place. I had an issue in the past and I found if I push it as far up as it can go without bubbling out of the needle, then flick it, then pull back down and up, I can get rid of the bubble, but it took several times of doing this this morning to get rid of it. A couple times recently I just gave up and just stopped it at a little over the intended mark to compensate for the bubble.
Occasionally, and that means maybe once or twice, Ive been able to just pull it out of the cartridge to the intended line and its perfect, but it rarely happens. Mostly because I pull it out too far and have to adjust it. Thats when the bubbles happen. But they also form as Im pulling it out, so I still have to pull back the plunger and push it back up again. Then bubbles, or rather one bubble, that just wont go away!!!
Does anyone else have this issue. It drives me mad!!

Same with Elise, unless I saw something that looked huge I’d just ignore it. If it was huge I’d start over again with another syringe. Frustrating though, all the talk about flicking it I could never make it work.

Strangely I had a batch of syringes that didnt produce a single bubble. I think its the syringe, not me. Glad to hear Im not the only one.

I suppose I should but it seems like she wouldnt be getting the right dose if I ignored it. I have to admit tho, I have ignored it many times.
True, true, and on the other hand or paw, Karamelle is having a lovely cycle today :D

Hi Jo :)
If I get a too big of a bubble I squirt the insult and draw again. I know it's not recommended but I found that in the second draw I never have bubbles and the needle doesn't hurt him so I just do that if needed.
If it's a small bubble I turn a blind eye. Those nasty bubbles can be a pain in the b.

hii! Can try dosing, then tap syringe as little as possible to get bubbles to top of barrel, pull plunger down an inch or so, a little more if want, then nice and easy slowly back up the barrel, keeping an eye on the air pocket, which is a bit of a darker gray, can pull back a few times if need cuz bubbles stubborn, until its all out by a tiny drop showing from needle then pull back slightly :cat: (might be a teeny bubble or two sometimes leftover.. no biggie..)

also pulling plunger down a few times to make sure is lubricated helps and a close eye too

hope maybe helps!! ~ :coffee::blackeye::cat:

I dont like to waste the insulin, so I try not to do that, but I can see where it might work to squirt it all out and try again. Thanks.

Yep, Im doing all this. Sometimes I get no bubble and other times, I cant get rid of that testy one at the very top. its just the life of a diabetes cat caretaker I guess.

awww :(:blackeye: its tough.. i admit that i dont have issues w bubbles anymore.. cuz i slowly push them out, pull back down if its being a tool.. push up and out, easy goes.. but its got to a point where bubbles negligible. use ReliOns tho - do u like your syringes? :cat:

The syringes are ok I guess. I think the bubbles definitely have something to do with the syringes tho. I had a whole box that never got any bubbles. Now Im back to bubbles again. I managed to get one without the bubbles tonight after flicking and pushing up slow. But its definitely hit or miss. There was definitely a difference in the syringes that didnt get any bubbles. The syringe was pulled back some on all of them, so I had to push it tight before drawing out the insulin. I have the UltiCare VetRX U100 with the 1/2 units.

Nice cycle today Jo :cat:
I have to admit, I was disappointed she went so high again. It was going so good. Hopefully she will come down some at pm +3 which will be the last test tonight. I fed her at pm +1.5 and she ate pretty good. But I did have to assist feed earlier today, mainly because I was going out and wanted to make sure she ate.

keep at it! :bighug: maybe even test w some water on one.. slowly up the barrel. make sure its nice and easy up and down.. will admit too my nearsightedness comes in handy for this…… haha.. these syringes are tiny. :/

Ha, I have to wear those magnifying glasses to see anything on that syringe. I used to be near sighted, but now it seems to be going the other way. After having to wear glasses to drive for years and years, I actually passed the eye exam on my last test when I renewed my drivers license. Granted, their test is pretty lenient. ;)
