3/16 Oberon AMPS 426 (dose incr.), +6 384, PMPS 380, +5 198

Yikes! The amount you have to increase for pred is ECID. Just keep on those increases when you can.

Yep. We fast tracked just a little this morning. I was initially hopefully because we were still seeing yellows yesterday, but it looks like we'll be heading up for a bit. And we missed two of the pred doses... night before last my kid was in the ER (with what turned out to be an 11 mm kidney stone!), so I wasn't home to do him. Last night I tried to do him on my own and gave up after he ditched two pills in succession. Back on track today with both that and the clindamycin. It goes much more smoothly when I have someone else to hold him. And he's getting the probiotic.

Poor kid! Not used to hearing about young un's with kidney stones.

I know it's not a long term thing with pred, but if that changes, you can get them compounded into chew treats which are much easier to give. Or pop it into something like a pill pocket piece.

Oof - poor kiddo. I've had kidney stones 4 times, and they've luckily never been that large, although one was borderline needing to be broken up. That pain is super awful - I hope he feels better soon! :bighug:

Thanks! They're doing ok... temporary stent relieved the pain, and laser stone removal will happen in about 4 weeks. Apparently kidney stones are becoming more common in younger people?

Dude threw a curveball at me tonight... diving into blues! Guess the new dose is helping.

Of course blues show up when there is other stuff also happening - because cat. :joyful:
My first kidney stone was my senior year of high school - which is why I'm not surprised that it's happening in younger folks. After the last one (I'm stubbornly an idiot sometimes), I downloaded an app that tracks my water intake and haven't had one since 2013 (knock on all the wood). I had no idea that laser stone removal would be so far away - a scheduling thing or just how it's done?

High school... geez, no fun! (My kid is 19, so about the same age.) They wanted 4 weeks for the stent to expand the ureter before stone removal. But we're back in the ER this morning (pain is back, despite the stent), so we'll see what happens from here.

They gave me something like FlowMax I think to increase the size of the ureter the last time I had one since it was borderline size (just under 5mm) and they wanted it to pass naturally if possible. 11mm is so much bigger than that though. It was one of the few times I gladly accepted the drugs they gave me (they gave me 80 percocet because they didn't know how long it would take to pass. And then it passed the next day.) I hope they're able to work out some better pain management, because the thought of 4 weeks of that sucks a lot. gentle hugs to your kiddo.

But also - there are some studies that riding a roller coaster can help them pass quicker? Uncertain how much that depends on size, but I've seen a fair amount of anecdotal stories.
