Good morning :)

Noogi had a very active cycle last night. I did a little bit of manipulation of the curve with food - extra MC snacks and a couple treats. Managed to resist giving him the HC gravy food.

Expecting a bit of a bounce, but hoping not too much of a big one.

I'm having one of those moments when managing FD feels like a science experiment, and I'm all "help, I'm not a scientist!" and "who put me in charge?!":joyful::eek::joyful:

Edited to add: he's already down to 112 at +2, so possibly another active cycle :nailbiting:
Given him a bigger than normal snack with some MC before I leave for work.

Just seeing this. What does he do for food when you're at work? A timed auto-feeder?
Yes, a basic one with two slots.
I usually feed with his shot of course, then before I leave at +2. And I set his feeder with snacks for approx. +4 and +6. Sometimes give him another one if/when I go home at my lunchtime (so his +7 or +8). I try to stick to similar when I am home, but I'm not that strict. He will often eat half a snack and then come back and finish the rest in half an hour or so.
Does that sound okay?

He has always been a good eater. On the few times he is not interested in food I know something very serious is going on.

Of course he gives you all this action when you'd like to be sleeping! So nice to see that set of greens though, good job on keeping him safe and manipulating with some food :)

Its PM +4 now and he's already down to 61. Makes me nervous. I'm already so tired after last night! He's eaten well now, including a couple treats. Do I go to sleep? :nailbiting:

Edited to add: and a bit lower now at +5, even with the food. Just gave him a bit more MC and treats. I feel like I am keeping him out of a lime by manipulating the curve with food again. It is stressful and keeping me from sleep.
@Bandit's Mom Bhooma, what are your thoughts?

Sorry! It was 2 am for me and unlike you, I was snoring in bed! ;)

Did you get any tests after the +5? What is your MC%? Did he get it at +5?
Hi, hope I'm not disturbing your sleep in any way!

He was up to 85 by +6 so I retired. Tested now when I woke up, +9 (3am my side) and he's 164. He had extra snacks at +4, +5 and +6. Quite a lot of MC of 14% plus a few Dreamies. He had about twice the usual amount of pm food, basically non stop scoffing, definitely more than he should.

He dropped fast and early, and I'm pretty sure he would have gone lower if I hadn't given him the extra food. I know I can do this to avert a hypo but it's not really sustainable. Pretty sure his nadir is usually +6 or even +7, so hitting the lower 50s at +4 alarms me.

Oh no! Not at all. :-)

What you can try next time, is to feed a little higher carbs earlier in the cycle - like +2 or even +3 - so he doesn't drop to low greens later in the cycle and keep you up. I know that these nights of testing and feeding are exhausting and unsustainable. Now that he has broken into good numbers, he might just decide to race down the dosing ladder, but I don't want to rush to reduce and have him stuck in higher numbers again. Would you be OK to try MC at +2 in active cycles like tonight and last night and see what that does? I would like to keep him at a good dose for as long as possible - without it leaving you exhausted.

Absolutely about giving him MC earlier. That I can do. He shouldn't be having the treats, altho or course he is loving them. He must have had 7 or 8 Dreamies tonight!

Should I be trying to get less nervous about numbers in the 50s, or am I right to be alarmed like I am?

Hi Helen , sorry you were up so late last night
Nice start this morning, I hope Noogi starts to come up tonight after that +5 , up Noogi up .
Feeding him MC earlier like Bhooma suggested sounds good :bighug::bighug::cat:

Wow, what a night (again) for you two!! It's exciting and yet nerve-wracking! Too bad it has to be overnight and keeping you awake. Such a long night and I know it's exhausting. It sounds like you're doing an amazing job keeping Noogi safe!

I hope today is calm for you both so you can rest. :bighug:

I hope Bhooma's suggestion is helpful! Since (as always) Xander seems very similar to Noogi, I might have to steal the suggestion if it works for you! :)

Thanks Brianna. I am now up and at my desk but not sure I'm fully awake :p
Hope you and Xander have a calm night!
