Ivy ate very well yesterday and this am and BM is returning to close to normal.

It’s taken almost 2 weeks to get back to that after this pancreatitis event.
She’s happy to eat her regular 6% diet of lamb.

I was able to sleep in my bed last night, which was awesome, and she came up to find me around 4 o’clock this morning and got in bed and cuddled, which was great. :)

I did speak to the vet yesterday who said it was fine to discontinue the buprenorphine if I thought she was feeling OK.
I did stop that yesterday, he said if for some reason she starts acting “off” again I could always restart it and finish her course of med.

I’m keeping her on the Cerenia at the moment. We will check in early next week and decide when would be a good time to stop that. He wants to keep the inflammation properties from that med in place as she continues to heal.

We did discuss how to handle her sedation going forward when she needs to go to the vet for a visit and or labs. He thinks maybe we will just try gabapentin and cut out the trazodone and see how we do. (He mentioned that they usually only use a trazodone and gabapentin combo with dogs.)
I’ve been using that combination as prescribed by a previous vet, but I think at this point it’s just too much for her to handle with all she’s got going on and I won’t be fasting her for labs if absolutely not necessary going forward.

Hoping to have a calm and very boring day. Hope all the kitties are feeling well and have a very safe surf :cat:

Hi Staci. I am so happy to hear that Ivy is eating and enjoying her normal 6% food. It's great that her BM are almost back to normal too. I am sorry yesterday and the night before was so rough for you and Ivy. I am glad the twitching stop, I would been a nervous wreck. It seems like Ivy is ending her pancreatis bout, that's wonderful news. Also, it is a good plan you have moving forward with Ivy and her vet visits for lab work.

I have not posted for Butch in a couple of days. I wanted to let you know I finally installed the Libre 3 sensor early yesterday morning at 1 AM. I had the last two Libre sensors fail this week. I am not sure what was going on with it. Anyway, I installed the app onto Butch's phone, but I haven't figured out yet how to see it on my phone :bookworm: (Not sure, what I need to download on to my phone and do on the app of Butch's phone). It is definitely much easier just looking at the app to know his BG without having to scan him. I know he's happy about it too! Sometimes I need to move his phone from room to room because it loses signal (I guess the range is too far when he leaves one room for another). I try to keep him with me at night so I can monitor him better and intervene when needed. Also, I am not seeing his BG numbers when I look at the logbook on the app. Are you able to see Ivy's on your app?

Wishing you and Ivy a boring and toasty warm Sunday. It's cold today!
Good luck with reduction. Safe surfing Ivy!

Good meowning Staci and Ivy!
I'm glad to hear she's slowly becoming herself again. How sweet of her to visit you in bed yet again. I'm sure it was so heartwarming ❤️
Safe surf today Ivy. I see she's hanging out on the beach with her fav sweet boy AKA Nestle hehe

Hi Madeline, i’m sorry the sensors failed but really happy to hear you’re now using the three. I think you’re really gonna like it a lot better and it’s gonna make your life easier than chasing him around to scan him. The range is a little bit longer at 33 feet so that’s a little bit better. Of course I wish it were bigger because I have difficulty keeping her near her phone. Throughout the day I’m constantly chasing her around to keep the phone near her so that’s always a challenge but if that’s the worst thing I’m dealing with I can handle it.
I know you need to have the LibreLinkUp app on your phone and need to use two different email accounts so in other words if I remember correctly, you send an invitation from one account theoretically Butch’s account to your email account and you accept the invitation so that it will send you the data.
On Butch’s phone, you cannot move the scroll bar to see what happened hours ago. But on your phone on the LibreLinkUp app, You will be able to move a scrollbar and see down to the minute. What is /or was happening on his app.

Check through the information on the Facebook page. I believe they have instructions on how to do that. (Or maybe on the Abbott website)
If you can’t figure it out, let me know and I’ll see if I can try to refresh my memory on what to do, but I know you send it from one email account to the other and you’re going to “Accept” his invitation so that it is sharing information with you, mom, to see his data.

Let me know how you do!!

I’m so relieved, but she is definitely feeling better. That was such a scary thing to go through as you know.

Hi Karolina, I love when she comes and finds me in bed or on the sofa, wherever attempting to sleep.
She’s such a good girl.
She’s definitely been looking for Nestle a lot lately, hanging out at the beach and swimming with the sharks the other day:eek:
She needs to be more like Nestle and just be super steady. I keep hoping he’s gonna teach her how to do that game of steady;)
I hope all is well with you and the boys. Sending lots of love your way :bighug::kiss::bighug:

I’m glad she’s back to her normal routine, including early morning wake up calls :)

Trying a new sedative combo sounds like a good idea, I know gabapentin alone knocks her out after an hour of taking the prescribed dose.

Whenever it was prescribed we’d have to give her half doses or she’d sleep though everything lol.

Hope you guys find something that works for you!

Thank you, Eamon!
We have the same thing here. As soon as the gabapentin kicks in, it knocks her out at home.
But the strange thing is, when she gets to the vet, she can still rally enough to fight them.
She’s got a very strong, will which one vet, who was my favorite (and no longer practices), told she told me Ivy’s strong will will serve her well. So I keep trying to remember that and hope that that’s true.
Hope you have a nice night and give Ailish some pets when you see her next :bighug::cat::bighug:

Oh wow, that’s some impressive willpower on her end, I bet it does serve her well, and reflects her mom! Hang in there both of you and I’ll pass on the scratches.

So happy that she's finally coming to the end of this very long, miserable period (for both of you)! You both deserve a break! Hoping for some very boring days for you for a bit!

This is such great news! Glad to see Ivey is on the other side of her bout of pancreatitis.
You asked why I continued Mac on the Cerenia. He is 16.5 and has been on 4 mg Cerenia /day for 3 years. It is a general anti-inflammatory. He has not had another bout of pancreatitis since then and so the vet and I keep it going as a "preventative". Not sure that idea is based in science but there have not been any downsides and no reoccurances of pancreatitis.

When you go through something like this it does make you realize how lovely boring days can be.

Have a great one today!

Thanks so much, Jill. I completely agree on a BORING day is the BEST day!!

Interesting about a maintenance dose, and SO happy you've not had another occurrence!!
I know @Deb and Tiger also use a maintenance dose for Tiger.

I'd LOVE to never go through another bout of pancreatitis again!!
I will discuss this idea with my vet. Thanks so much for letting me know your experience.
Hugs to Mac! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

If you go in that direction you can get it in 16mg and 24mg tablets then cut them to make the 4 mg. For me doesn’t have to be super exact. The 24mg is a better value but I take what is in stock. Good luck
