Yesterday was nice. Not much of a bounce today.
Big drama trying to get another Lantus pen, or rather the 5 pens for $35 with the Lantus coupon. When I got my first pen, I went to Walmart and they would only give me one for $35 with the coupon. So this time since I was running low, i asked the vet to omit the dose in the instructions and just say "use as previously directed". I went to CVS first and they couldnt get the coupon to work. So I went to Walgreens. They got the coupon to work and everything seemed fine till they informed me they didnt have any in stock. I drove to the next nearest Walgreens with their assurance that everything was entered into the computer and they would just look it up and get me the 5 pens. Not so lucky Im afraid. I got to the next Walgreens and they couldnt find anything in the computer and when they looked at my prescription they saw it didnt have a dose and said they couldnt except it like that. Sigh. I called the original Walgreens, where the coupon and prescription were fine with them, and asked them to order it. I got a call today saying they got their shipment but the pens are on back order so they didnt get any. Then an hour later I get a text saying my prescription is ready to pick up. So I call them, very confused. They said they were able to get one pen from another store and that the total would be $21.68 with the coupon. If all goes well, I will still be able to get 5 pens for $35 when they get them back in. I got the pen home and looked to make sure i had the right thing and noticed that the instructions didnt say "use as previously directed". They read "inject 1 unit under the skin twice daily" !! So that guy at Walgreens just changed the directions. Good thing I know how much to give. And Im just glad I got a pen today.

Glad you got a pen after all that. I'm not sure why they need an actual dose (maybe they can't process the prescription in their system without it?) but not cool for the pharmacist to change the prescription dose. Don't pharmacists have to check with the doctor before changing anything on the prescription or giving a generic alternative?
