Nice afternoon slide; we'll have to see where he goes with it.

Civvies Ariel and Freya went for checkups today and we got the labs back for Oberon and civvie Puck. Oberon's info is in the Labs tab of his SS. Bloodwork looked good; a couple of things (magnesium, Na/K ratio) were barely out of the normal range but not a concern. Glucose was normal! (He was in the middle of a dive so that's not a surprise.) Urine was also mostly good. Glucose (2+, no surprise), protein (1+), and ketones (trace) were high. So I'll start doing a better job of ketone spot checks when he's been high for a while, just in case. Ready for Levemir now whenever it gets here.

Puck's bloodwork was also fine. Urine had some blood which was probably just from the bladder tap, and there was some protein (2+) and microalbuminuria (2.7, normal is <2.5). We'll do a recheck in 6-8 weeks to monitor that. Urine culture was negative. So we're going to start him on an anti-anxiety med to see if it helps stop him from peeing everywhere (three times at least so far this week...).

Nice on the labwork! How did your vet react to the normal BG? My vet freaked out the first time, then over time she got used to it. :p Interesting on the ketones, given that he bad been in pretty decent numbers around the time of the blood draw. Though he did have a pink AM that day.

Any ETA on the Lev?

She was very happy with the normal BG! But I told her he was diving that day, so she wasn't surprised. No word yet on the Lev; they said it would be about 8 days and I'd get a message when they were shipping. So hopefully later this week.

Just got a call from the pharmacy.... they had to get clarification on the prescription (vet originally wrote "as directed" but they wanted a specific dose), so now it'll be 8 days from now, plus shipping, etc. Sigh.

Me either. I just looked and on the Lantus it says 6 units twice daily or as directed. So I guess they need an actual dose now, even if it's going to change.
