Let's see what he does in the next 30 minutes first. I think you'll be ok to go. Worst case scenario, you leave HC food out, he eats it all in the first 15 minutes, then you're getting home right as the carbs are starting to wear off. That is if you will be gone no more than 2 hours.

 

From what I'm seeing here so far and since you'll only be gone 2 hours, I don't think so. If you need to give him some HC right before you leave I think he'll be fine.

However, you do have to do what you are most comfortable with. If you are nervous about leaving him, then by all means stay. There is nothing wrong with making sure he's safe!

What is the carb count for Sheba?

 

About the same as FF, maybe a little higher, so I'm guessing around 5%.

 

If it's been 20-30 minutes since the last test, could you get another one so we can see what he's doing?

That's a good indicator that he is probably leveling out. If it were me, I would get another test in 30 mins and if he is dropping, give some more LC and then test again right before you need to leave. According to that +5 test probably give a tsp of HC and a tsp on MC when you are leaving to hold him for a few hours.

I would save food for out-the-door...personally I'd rather not see a food-influenced number for that test. He's got quite a ways to go before he's in the danger zone on the AT meter.

My thinking is that we'll know how fast he's dropping (if he's dropping) that way, and better able to judge what kind of food to leave out.

 

Sorry I just got home and saw this. Well he certainly welcomed you to Lantus Land didn't he. He certainly read the book on how not to let the beans leave home as long as I have to take this stuff.

Just got home and tested him, he is fine *whew*! I cheated and left him a tsp of HC food when I left; good thing I did, I guess, because he didn't eat any of the MC I left.

I figure he should get a reduced dose tonight? How much should I give him?
