Hi all,

Yesterday’s post:
https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...l-day-13-ambg-93-pmbg-86.299688/#post-3260197

We made it! I still can’t believe we’re here…

Thank you all for your support, wisdom, and kindness over the past five months. This journey wouldn’t have been the same without you!

To celebrate, I put together an OTJ video for Pookey. I have no experience with making videos, so bear with me - but I hope you enjoy it!

Here’s the link to Pookey’s OTJ video.

I’ll still be around, feel free to ping me or send me a message anytime.

Have a great day! - Tim

CONGRATULATIONS, Tim and Pookey! Your journey is inspirational and your support has been so appreciated.

The celebration video is amazing! Love the "I'll risk it all" and I had to pause for his stats, they actually made me cry, 1,000 tests! Wow.

You did it!

Thank you Laurie :bighug::bighug: Not my intention to make you or anyone cry, sorry about that!! I didn’t count all the tests, just some quick estimates, but they add up fast!

Thank you Staci! When I was looking through all the posts for the nice words from everyone, I had a hard time with yours. There were so many good ones to pick from and you’ve been there since the start :bighug::bighug:

Let's Party!
Woo Hoo! Congrats Tim and Pookey !!
Tim you did an amazing job with the video. !!!
I loved when Pookey meowed looking at the bird

I'm sure you saw this , just in case you didn't
Once she/ he is through the trial successfully, you enter a new phase. Your cat is still diabetic but has now become diet-controlled. Continue feeding low carb food in the manner successful for your kitty. If you decide to change her/ his feeding schedule, let your meter be your guide to the best times to feed. Avoid medications with sugar in them and steroid medications unless they are medically essential. Continue testing blood glucose weekly for the first month and then monthly forever. It's a good idea to weigh her monthly. Weight should remain stable. If she seems "off" or sick, or is showing signs of diabetes (excessive drinking, eating, urinating, weight loss), test her blood glucose right away. Keep the teeth and gums clean and healthy; dental issues can bring a cat out of remission. If you see rising blood glucose numbers, it's time for a visit to the vet!

Also I have to add that I do believe that's the first OTJ video anyone has ever made where at the end of the video certain forum posts were displayed and forum members thanked. That is a fantastic way to end the video and I love it.

In the past, we would list the 500+ previous OTJ kitties from the LLB but that was getting to be a bit much anyway.

Awesome feedback, thank you!!

I went a little off script because I had no way to replicate the old video’s ending. The individual posts could be done better, it was just time consuming to search thousands of messages and pick the favorites. But I was happy with the concept and a nice way to look back and remember all the wonderful people and support :bighug:

:otj::otj::otj:AHHHH!! What a day!! Congrats Tim and Pookey for making it OTJ!! :otj::otj::otj:
That was such a great video, thank you for putting it together and sharing! The many donut videos are hilarious. Pookey knows what he likes!

If I'm remembering correctly, you made a post many weeks (months?) ago about the difficulty of all of this and how you weren't sure how if it was sustainable (TR, testing, etc.) but you'd committed to giving this all a try for a few months to see if you could get Pookey into remission and look where you are now! All of your hard work and Pookey's good attitude have paid off. So so proud and happy for you both!!

Binx and I will be celebrating over here for you! Enjoy today! :bighug::bighug:

Aww, thanks Briana!! He almost got a bite a few times too, he’s pretty good haha.

And I remember that post, I was basically saying I’d give TR my all for the 6 months or whatever, and then reevaluate just because of the toll it was taking on other areas of my life. I’m glad I stuck with it, today is a nice feeling :bighug:

Congratulations! So happy for you!

You made!!! We knew you will.
And although we're gonna miss your daily posts and cute photos of Pookey we're so incredibly happy and joyful for you. Enjoy this moment and this feeling. You both deserve it. And stay away from the donuts Pookey!:p:cat:

Ps. Great video!

Love these, thank you Karolina :D it’s really nice to hear. Can’t wait to continue following along with you and the boys :bighug:

Woohoo! Well done Tim and Pookey. Congratulations on the getting to OTJ and the video, so nice to see more of Pookey and his family.:joyful::otj:

BTW, how did Pookey get his name?

Not the first, but it's been quite a few years. And it's much appreciated.

Awwwwww...that video brought tears to my eyes, especially the last scene! You're such a good cat dad to Pookey. I'm so glad he achieved remission. Don't forget about us on the FDMB.

Congratulations Tim and Pookey on achieving remission!

Thanks Wendy. I’m happy the video was well received. Regarding his name - I wish I had a funny or spectacular story to tell, but I do not :bookworm:

Aww, thank you Mary :bighug: that’s sweet of you to say. We’ve made some genuine connections here and I’m happy you all got to know Pookey a little bit too :bighug:

Congratulations you guys!!!! I'm so happy for you!! :bighug::bighug::bighug: You're such a good dad and he's so lucky to have you. Wishing you many more days, months, and years of remission.

Loved the video, the stats at the end killed me hahaha.

I hope to see you around here still occasionally. Check in with us sometimes!

^ btw this is really helpful and inspiring. It must've been before I joined so I didn't see the original post, but it gives me hope to see how far you and Pookey have come. I'll remember this next time I get frustrated and/or exhausted.

Thank you Jess!! Really appreciate the kind words :bighug: the stats are pretty crazy aren’t they? I should have included “roughly 2,000 messages on FDMB” haha

Omg Tim that is SO AMAZING CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I haven't been super active on this forum but I have stalked Pookey's sheet since the beginning of Niko's diagnosis. His journey has been such an inspiration (and one of the kitty SS's that I look at when I get nervous shooting a low PS, to give me confidence!)

You have done amazing. Congratulations to you both.

Aww, I’m glad! I just liked having some kind of a plan. Especially when you’re turning down stuff with friends/family, falling behind at work, etc.

A thousand percent. I keep telling people it's like having a second full-time job. (Well, maybe more like part-time now that I have a slightly better idea of what I'm doing)

Thank you so much Ana, I’m embarrassed, I knew I missed someone in the ending of the video. Forgive me - my eyes were going crazy looking at old conversations for all those. Appreciate your kind words :bighug::bighug: I’ll be following along as Niko spends more time in these great numbers!
