Good afternoon,
Mookie had a big drop again today which has been happening a lot. I've been trying foods with different percentages of carbs to see if I can slow him down, but haven't always been successful. This morning he had 3oz of 8% through +2, and it didn't seem to slow the drop at all. Next time I'll try an 11% or 13% to see if that works.

It's another beautiful day, perfect for gardening and playtime in the back yard. My honey bees survived the winter and are busy collecting pollen. The fruit trees are blooming and the air is sweet with their scent. Life is good.

I'm guessing that Mookie is already building up a fair amount of momentum by the time you're seeing the drop. Would it be possible for you to get a +2 and a +3? If you are able to catch the drop a little earlier, you may be able to intervene sooner and slow things down. FWIW, Gabby tends to drop fast, as well. I use HC -- I vary the amount I feed vs. the percent of carbs.

Wow, Randa, that is some impressive cycle from sweet Mookie! I admire all of you that work with the food to control the drop. I have such a slow go diva that it never enters my mind. She wants a reducie. Have a nice day. I love the way you describe the beautiful day.

Thanks, Sienne. I usually feed him at PS, +2 and +4, but I think I need to routinely test and feed at PS, +1, +2, and +3. His numbers have dropped a lot in the past few weeks, and I need to change his eating schedule to accommodate the changes. Since MC doesn't slow him down, I'll try varying the amount of HC next time.

Wow...Mookie sure is a cat on a mission!! Good luck with the food adjustments to slow him down a bit!

Wow, that is some cycle so far!! I think Mookie is telling you something. I also think you're doing a great job with the food.

Thanks for your help with the kcal. The number you arrived at makes much more sense to me (although I still am hazy with regard to how you arrived at it!).

Yes, we are less than 50 miles from the Quebec border. Montreal is our closest big city.

Hi Randa - Mannie is a diver too, and I found early on that I need to feed him at PS, +1, +2, +3. This does help him alot. I usually can tell by +2 if I need a higher carb food. I too had to go with the HC food. That has changed since I initially started doing this - more often than not I can now get by with LC/MC. The were times at first when it had to be 18%.... It might be good too to start testing at ps, +1, +2, +3 to see when onset is, and to catch these dives early. I will do that with Mannie too. another thing I like to do is get a +11 if I can. that way you can tell when you get the PS number whether Mookie is already headed down. Good luck!

Mookie is having an Olympic caliber dive that Zener would envy. Makes the beans a little nutty though! We also feed Zener @ +1, +2, +3 most days to try to slow diving, not sure we have that sorted out yet, but we keep trying! Way to earn that reduction Mookie! :mrgreen:
