Yesterday on Ruby and the Red Baron. :cat:

Ruby is still hesitating to eat. I can tell that she is nauseous because she will happily eat if I sprinkle crushed up Dr. Elsey's on top of her raw (saved a small jar of kibble for these situations). I am managing Ruby's inappetence but I phoned her "new" vet to see if they could squeeze her in--their next available appointment is two weeks from now. :banghead: Guess she must be great!

Seems like we're back on track again numbers-wise. :rolleyes: Thanks everyone for putting up with my freakout yesterday. :oops: Feel like we are on mile 24 of the feline diabetes marathon where any setback seems monumental.

Healing thoughts for all of the sick kitties and hugs to you beans. Have a great day, everyone. :bighug::bighug:

Aww, Ruby girl . . . on the positive side, crunchies are making the food tolerable for her. My prayers join Carla's.

Tina has me trained on adding chicken dust (crumbled freeze dried) to her food, and she doesn't seem to have any tummy trouble. She's a little on and off on eating without sprinkles (sometimes rabbit when the chicken won't satisfy). But late at night, no sprinkles necessary.

Two weeks waiting on an appointment sounds nuts, but being "new" often prevents priority service unless the animal is very sick. So . . . hopefully, like you said, she's fine, geez!!

Awesome BG:D this morning!!

Hi Katherine, Ruby's numbers are good, I just feel so sad that she's nauseous, I hope that her appetite will pick up. Sorry you have to wait 2 weeks to see the new vet.
Maybe they will have a cancelation, you can call and ask them if they do to please call you . Kisses for Ruby ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:

I don't feel bad about giving Ruby a kibble or two if it gets her to eat, and usually a little bit stirs her appetite and she finishes most or all of the food in the bowl. It just hurts me to see this because she's always been a really food oriented chowhound, but since her health has been declining it's been a challenge to get her interested sometimes. It breaks my heart but I suppose a reality of having a senior cat.

Because I live in such a densely populated area and everyone seems to have adopted a pet during the pandemic, it can take days to get an appointment at a vet, if not weeks. I get impatient and take Ruby to a practice that does not do appointments--they take you in the order you show up at their door. Her vet is really nice but he's really harried and I don't think he has the time to really deal with an older cat with so many issues. He's good for doing routine blood work, is happy to write prescriptions for nausea meds, but is not so great about being creative about her care. Hoping this new vet will be worth the wait and give us the time and consideration Ruby needs. If Ruby's vomiting worsens, I will just have to take her back to her old vet.

Thanks, Diane, for worrying about my Ruby. ❤️ I did ask them if they could call me if there was a cancellation and the woman told me that there is a very long list for cancellations already. :( It's fine, I can always take Ruby to her old vet if she gets worse. I've become a pro at managing nausea, I have every tool at my disposal.

Ruby sends kisses back! :kiss::kiss::kiss:
