Happy Saturday and a wonderful long weekend for the tireless pet parents here.

This boy loves red too much. Going tonight or tomorrow morning with the 4 units. Tomorrow is better because I will be able to monitor him every second. I have to leave tonight for a few hours and when increasing the dose I am always stressed and like to watch him like a hawk.
New libre placed at vet today. Bought new ketone meter Ketosens says 0.1 so that is good (cheaper strips and seems easier to use). Just received my caliper today and have this weekend to train how to use it. Wish me luck. Henry stopped drinking water completely (back to his old self) and now hates the purebites in water. I offered raw chicken, and put more water in his stella morsels to trick him. Somehow I feel the one tricked lol.

He might take more than one cycle to react to the new dose.

With him I never know for sure. When we transitioned to 3.5 - saw blue and a bunch of yellow on 3.75 and then of course bounced but that first day he really did go down a bit. Based on his prior history (we went to 5 units and then down to 2.5 because I was clueless back then and was traumatized by two hypos) he is probably somewhere between 4 and 5 so I am sure he will be ok even with 4 units especially with these crazy numbers, but I am a big time worrier.
I have a long weekend to monitor him so that will be nice.

But that one blue you saw on 3.5 was a really high blue. When you increased to 3.75 he also reacted in the irst cycle, but nothing lower than mid upper 200's. First dose at 3.0 units and 3.25 units, no reaction first cycle but did on the 4th. Cats vary in whether they show a reaction to the first cycle at a new dose. He's still got a ways to go to dangerous numbers. I'd try to get him out of higher numbers as soon as you can.

How is Henry acting/behaving otherwise? Cats are so much more than their numbers.

Makes sense. I will start him at 4 units tonight. He's doing great otherwise. Eating well. grooming, very vocal as usual. Especially when I step out into the kitchen which is a magical place for him. He is annoyed at his former libre area. When the vet took it out the skin looked great but he is annoyed at it and licks it heavily and now it is red the poor thing. May need to put a onesie on it to allow it to heal will see how he does tonight.

Did the vet give any suggestions for the red skin? For irritated/itchy skin, my vet had me apply a 1 in 10 dilute solution of hibitane, leave it on for 5 minutes, then take it off. But not sure if that'd work for Henry's situation.

She gave me something last time but it seemed to itch him more than help. I unfortunately had to put an onesie on him because he was able to get to the new libre, so this will help him not touch his old area. as long as he does not pick at it by tomorrow it should look better. Put a tiny bit of neosporin which usually helps. i looked for hibitane but looks like something available in canada only. i will ask my vet next time.

Just gave him 4 units. Fingers crossed we are getting closer and closer to the right dose. Will report back tomorrow hopefully with some better numbers.

Have a great wekeend.

Ordered these pads with Amazon and they will be delivered tomorrow. woohoo. On the other hand the Libre is now placed towards the bottom right and the current onesie is too tight for his let’s call it fluffiness lol. 7.3 kg . Trying to find better ones to cover that Libre but so far we tried 3 different ones and can’t say I found the one. Any advice ? Without something to cover it the Libre will die soon as we have been there done that. I see some people putting tape on it but I think that will be even more uncomfortable. I will keep searching.
