Libre day 2.5; it's still attached and working (so far, so good). Cinna has started grooming himself again; which I'm really happy about, but he's been getting close to grooming the Libre lol.

He woke us up several times in the night, all of which he was in the blue so I didn't feed. I'm not sure if he's actually hungry, just wanting attention, or if I've inadvertently trained him to do this by giving him food in the past when he does this.

I've noticed a difference in numbers from scanning vs the continuous numbers it stores by itself. Will investigate that further this morning. For now, I'm just recording my scanned results on the SS.

AMPS = 144 (ate food)
+1 = 112
+2 = 85

He only ate a little bit at AMPS and is now fast asleep.
 
53 @ +3.75 - have given more LC

He was blue all night and now determined to surf greens all morning... he pulled away from me unexpectedly this morning when I gave him his shot; I was fairly certain I got it all in him, but I think these numbers confirm it.

Is it normal to go higher into the blues and then come back down into the green on a dose reduction?

Yes. Yesterday he was bouncing and some cats go high before they clear a bounce. Bounce clearing cycles have greater downward momentum so greater propensity to drop lower.

Have given more LC, glad it's the weekend and I'm not juggling this around meetings lol

Not sure what just happened there. He was climbing, then randomly dropped to 81 at +11, then back up to 131 at PMPS... ???
 
It’s called a double dip. He’s looking really good. They go low at the end of the cycle but not as low as nadir.

I was expecting to shoot green and then he was back in the blue and I was all confused. Good to know this has a name and is normal, thanks!

Not sure what to expect tonight, hopefully it involves more sleep though.
 
It looks like you might get some sleep. You didn’t need to stay up quite as late as you did last night in my opinion. I would have stopped at +6.

I noticed the same, sometimes the scanned numbers don't match the stored numbers. One morning I got a really low number for AMPS which made no sense and when I downloaded the numbers were different and more in range with what I expected. I learned my lesson with the Libre to doublecheck when it looks funny. Great tool with a few quirks. Glad thought it is not just me seeing this. I have the libre 14 days though, seems like yours is the libre 2 since you are mentioning the alarms. but probably same issue affecting both. Question - with the alarms - do they scare the kitty - how do they work? It sounds like they are very useful when numbers are low.

I did go to sleep after +6, but, he woke me up several times in the night, so I scanned him lol. :)

I downloaded all the stored numbers this morning and compared to the scanned numbers. Most of the time they are in the same ballpark, but occasionally, they are a bit wacky. Whenever I see something unexpected or low that needs to be checked I'm using my Freestyle Lite to confirm. I'd not be surprised if the 14 day is the same; I think the only change is really the alarms.

You are correct, I'm using the Freestyle Libre 2. I'm using it with the phone app, not the reader (apparently it's either one or the other, you can't hook up both to it). The phone uses bluetooth to get signals from the Libre; it has to be within about 20ft or it goes out of range and the alarms stop working. You still have to scan it to get the actual numbers though (why, I don't know. Probably an FDA thing). There are 4 alarm types and even if your phone is muted they go off - they are a loud repetitive beep that you cannot turn the volume down on or change it's tone. There is an Urgent Low Glucose Alarm which cannot be turned off, it goes off when BG goes below 55. You cannot alter the threshold. There is a Low Glucose alarm, the lowest you can configure that at is 60, so I turned that off. The High Glucose alarm does similar and can be turned off. The final alarm is for signal loss; I turned that off as well.

You can also give the app permission to sound the alarm when your phone is in "do not disturb" mode.

Cinna doesn't seem bothered by the alarms but it does wake up and startle the other cats. Overall, so far it's been a really useful piece of kit. Especially since at the moment, I'm having to test a lot as Cinna is adjusting to dose changes.
 
This is very helpful to know thank you. Do you use anything to cover the libre sensor so the cat won't bother it? If I don't put a onesie, the sensor won't last. But he hates the onesie. Looking now into ordering kitty collar and belly bands. Henry is very fluffy at 7.3 kg or 16 pounds and even the XXL onesies don't fit and have to cut them off make them more comfortable. Still looking for better options. He is very smart at getting rid of the sensor if I don't cover it, regardless where the sensor is placed. Learned my lesson :)
 
Cinna is an old man who until recently, hasn't really been grooming himself much. He also doesn't have any teeth. This is our first Libre so I haven't put anything over it to see how he does. He has started grooming himself again and I have seen him groom the Libre, he's also been pulling at the fur around it, but, I don't think he will be able to pull it off with his mouth. I also don't think he can reach it with his back claws, he's not that flexible. My expectations for it staying on are fairly low though since it seems to be a common problem.

They have good information about how to help keep the sensor on; I think a lot of it comes down to the individual pet and how determined they are to get it off. Skin preparation is a big deal though as well. I hope you find a good solution for Henry!
 
Thank you. Yes I joined that group recently. They have some good info for sure. Just need to find something Henry won't be too pissy about lol. The vet puts it on and it really stays but the key is to cover it. Henry is surprising flexible for his weight. Kitty yoga lol Cinna is super cute, look at that face. Gorgeous.
