yesterday: new dose and a dive https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/5-3-oberon-pmps-318-3-266-4-75-177.246929/

I'm confused. If you skipped the R shouldn't his numbers have been higher? Sorry. It doesn't sound like you got much sleep.

You would think so, but the R effect is overlaid on whatever the antibodies and Lantus are doing. The R dose for Oberon is targeted to result in about a 100 point drop at +4. But the antibodies have their own ideas, and he goes through these waves of high numbers followed by dives into normal numbers. Last night was one of those. If he had also gotten R the dive would have been even steeper, probably.

This time around, since I wanted to get some sleep, I gave just a bit of 15% carb at about +5 when he was at 177 and diving just to slow him down a bit, went to bed and told my husband to get up and check him at about +7 instead of his usual +8. Worked out pretty well.

I had planned to get a +2, but I went back to bed and then overslept... really need to get caught up on my sleep, apparently. But usually once he comes out of the dive and flattens out in the greens, he's fine.

Looks like you were up testing all night. I dread that but I know those days are coming for me too. Hope you can sleep tonight.

Nice to see the new dose kick in. :D

Nice while it lasts!

Last night wasn't too bad for me... DH usually gets up to do a +8 check, but I nudged him and told him to start with a +7 instead, so we only had a 2 hour gap and I got to bed at 1 am. So I got some sleep, but he got up at 2:45 am and stayed up doing hourly checks until he had to go to work.

Now to figure out when I can go to bed tonight... the question is always how much trouble could he get into between my bedtime and DH's +8 check. I'll see what he's doing at +4 (midnight) and decide from there.

Wow. I hope Oberon stays in the good greens tonight and stays flat. I hope your hubby will be doing some of that testing... nice!

52 at +5... so much for bedtime. Breaking out the 15% FF. (Also had a small mishap with the lancet and took the opportunity to reconfirm that I'm not diabetic...)
