Previous thread https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/6-7-newman-amps-272.264273/#post-2961655 Plan to continue current dose 1.5 units. That got us into blue numbers a few days ago. Will feed first to be sure he keeps his food down.
I was just noticing that a few days ago, when he started out at 272, he had some lovely blues on that day.
I am hopeful that he may have had at least one blue this afternoon. It turned out that I had to run an errand, so I tested him at 2:00 and seeing he was 245, felt safe leaving him for about an hour and a half. Maybe tomorrow will produce better numbers. I will try to get some more tests to monitor. @Suzanne & Darcy
It really doesn’t look like he got out of the yellows yesterday. Here’s an example of something I typed last night but never sent.
Maybe today is the day for blue? And you were up last night at 3:30? Hope it wasn’t insomnia. I hope you are feeling well today.
Yes, I'll be looking for blue. What time checks would you like to see? Of course I never know if he will be available/accessible, but I can make a plan. Was this morning the 'blueberry' breakfast?
Went out this morning and picked more blueberries yes. Ate some with melon, raspberries, peach nectar, mango. Had a quiche and some bacon too. I’ll make blueberry crisp either today or tomorrow. My kids want to watch the Belmont Stakes today.
I was just looking at the SS and seeing where I could aim to fill in some blanks. At 1:00, in a few minutes, that will be +5. He is sleeping in the cat carrier in my walk-in closet. I will try to coax him out. I'll post it if I get it. I have to get to the shower, it is past noon and I am still in my PJ's. (tmi ?) 204 @ +5
Good! Now if we could get those blues a little lower or get him to stay there longer. Well… we will see where he is this evening
Hi Linda. I checked up on Newman's spreadsheet this morning about 7:30 and saw your AMPS. I'm stopping by again now and see he's having a kind of flat yellow day. At least the yellows are on the lower end. Are you getting the feeling that he needs a little more insulin?
He probably should have an increase, but I didn't look back and see why we backed off of the higher dose. I see that he has been on 1.5 units for 8 cycles after completing today's cycle. I think I prefer to wait and do any increase until tomorrow, rather than worry throughout the night (any more than usual.) As sure as I say that, I can almost be that sure that his AMPS will be some unusually low number, just because. lol Do you think an increase should be 0,25 ?
The usual increase would be .25. And yes, he’s heard the threat of the increase now so anything goes. I wasn’t suggesting tonight
And I agree. My personal policy was never to do an increase in the evening cycle - I always (or almost always) avoided them.
Thank you, and as always I appreciate you checking on us, sharing your experience. I hope you also have a good evening.
