Yesterday 6/1 http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/6-1-yoyo-amps-156.230346/ Day 9 @ 1.38 units Lantus Good morning....Yoyo is not any better...I am very concerned....BG is very high....have vet appt this morning. Wishing that all kitties surf safely
Good luck at the vet Debra. I know how difficult it is for you not knowing why Yo's not well and not being able to go inside the vet clinic with him. Sending tons of positive vines to you both.
Hope appointment goes well and vet finds out what's wrong with Yo! Sending prayers and positive vibes!
Poor Yoyo and poor you! Gentle scritches and hugs - I hope you're able to figure out what's happening. <3
Oh my ... I'm so sorry to see that high number. He definitely isn't feeling well with a number like that... I had so hoped he would have gotten this thing sorted out by now. I hope things go well at the vet and you can get to the bottom of what's going on! Sending prayers and hugs to you both!
I have tears in my eyes thinking about your wait. What you are doing is helping your precious boy - he is thanking you even if you don't feel it!!!
Seriously, try closing your eyes and deep breathing. And coffee won't help (laughing at myself) not sure about your coffee habits. Tina loves Yoyo
Many vines and prayers. There is definitely some issue with his numbers like they are. He’s started bouncing again and is in a bounce now. I’d increase to 1.5u and see if that helps but be aware that you could be increasing on a bounce clearing cycle. For most, I wouldn’t suggest that but you test a lot and you know him well....plus you are very experienced. But you can wait until he clears it if you want. He’s got room for a tweak at some point. more hugs and vines.
I got the RX for ondansetron, vet feels Cerenia works better but I asked for ondansetron thinking of what you told me earlier. His RBC, HCT and Hemoglobin are all low along with low WBC. They still feel it's pancreatitis and want his diet to be lower in fat if possible. He eats Pawlickin by weruva which is about 32% fat. But I do feed him pate foods low in carbs but all the pates that he likes are 55-65%fat. So starting tonight he is eating I/D or W/D per the vet's suggestion with his Pawlickin food. Vet says the prescription foods will not raise his BG as they are complex carbs. I am not too sure about this but I guess right now his diet is more important than raising the BG. I did increase his insulin per Marje's suggestion to 1.5 units. I also increased Cerenia to 1/2 tablet. I have not started ondansetron yet, don't want too many new things at once. He is still on Zeniquin, I got more for a total of 30 days at this time. His urine culture came back NEGATIVE, hard to believe with all the urinating and blood in urine. But hopefully Zeniquin will help the blood in urine. They don't know why RBC is low, but Yoyo has a history of low RBC when he has traumas, like surgeries. If you can think of anything, please let me know...thank you
I hope poor little Yoyo feels better soon. These definitely aren't his type of numbers. Did they run a blood test test for pancreatitis? I presume you've seen Marje's primer on pancreatitis. What we've seen here contradicts that statement. i/d is 30% carbs and w/d is 25% carbs. Note Marje's primer mentions low fat is older school thinking. I'm glad you got the prescription for ondansetron. It addresses different nausea receptors from Cerenia, so sometimes one or the other is better. At one point Neko needed both. 8mg Cerenia should be a better dose too for his weight.
I was afraid that the carbs would be high in the RX foods. Thank you for giving me that info. I fed him his Pawlickin tonight with I/d..... I hope BG doesn't go real high. Yo had a pancreatitis test which came back at 4.3. His urine culture came back negative which is hard for me to believe. Thank you for caring
