6/6/2022 Boris AMPS 98

Ill try to test more, even though its hard with Boris. He doesn’t fight the testing violently anymore (with biting and all…), but I feel that if I test too often he is starting to act like he is afraid of me (despite the fact that he now connects testing to food etc….) and I really don’t want that.
Sorry to hear that Boris doesn't care for the testing. Do you use a lancing device or poke freehand with the lancet? Some cats are startled by the sound of the device.

Here are some testing tips posted by another member. Hopefully something there will help?

Hi Bhooma,

Thank you for the tips!

Since last august I've tried more or less everything to monitor Boris' BG....Including attaching a Freestyle libre to him -- It was very expensive...he also had to be sedated at the vet's (cause he can't be treated otherwise), and then he tore it off his back after only 2 days.

:(

I now poke him freehand with lancets 'for cats and dogs' that I bought from Amazon...They are a bit longer and thicker. The regular human lancets didn’t draw any blood out of him, even when poking all the way...as I mentioned, I have to prepare some cooked chicken pieces to have around when I test him...it is really his kryptonite!:cat: Even though Boris is an overweight, extremely food-motivated cat, that would eat just about anything, no other treat worked.

I am hoping that I’ll be able to keep testing him 4 times a day until he gets better… sometimes (like this morning for example) he is just fed up and starts fighting me over it again.:(
