Thank you everyone for your replies in the last thread. I was starting to get pretty worried last night, but it seems the subQ fluids worked their magic and Henry is back to his old (new) self today. He used his litter box several times overnight (thank goodness) and hasn't been sitting by the front door, which makes me very happy. His appetite is strong again and he's eaten 4 times today (about a whole cup overall), but I've been pilling him instead of mixing in the zymes. Overnight he ate all the laced food that he wouldn't touch earlier. Other indications he wasn't feeling well last night included walking listlessly around the house (he's done this before right before he went to the hospital and right after his return in the past). He's been drinking water like crazy today. Probably about 200ml

BG is still high, and my alarm didn't go off for his 9am shot this morning, so he didn't get it til 1pm :(. Looks like I'm back on his "normal" shot schedule now. It probably fits my schedule best anyway, so hopefully no more late shots anymore. Since I've been doing everything I can (giving R) to bring down his BG, I figure there isn't much point to checking ketones anymore frequently than AMPS and PMPS unless he starts acting strange again.

Thank you everyone for all your thoughts and prayers, Henry needs all the help he can get sometimes.:bighug:

poor child he does need a break or 10! Maybe he is peeing in protest of the enzymes or UTI or cystitis. Do you have any pain medicine to see if that helps? Does he strain at all when he pees? Hope he gets to feeling better soon.
Yes, that was my initial thought too, that he was doing it in protest over the enzymes. AFAIK he's never had a UTI. He wasn't straining at all last night when he was peeing. Today I watched him in his box, and he may have been straining a bit. It was hard to tell. Is that what I should be looking for to see if he has a UTI? straining? or sitting in the box and not going?

Jesus John you two can't catch a break. I'm so sad he's not feeling well. Maybe he does have a UTI. Praying his numbers come down with the R and the ketones also I just looked at your SS
Thank you Diane :bighug: I think your prayers were answered, I'm very encouraged he's doing better today. Paws crossed the BG starts to come down and the subQ fluids and all his drinking have washed some ketones out.

Awww, was so happy to read about Henry's weight gain, now sad to see that he isn't feeling well and is peeing outside the box. Seems by doing it in front of you he's trying to let you know things aren't right. Maybe a UTI if this isn't typical behavior?
It must be he wasn't feeling well. The look in his eyes too, it's like his brain just wasn't functioning properly or something. Like he'd gotten into the kitty hooch. The few times he's peed outside his box in the past it's always right in front of me. Like he's trying to send a message. I think the usual message is "clean my box!", but it's only ever happened maybe once or twice per year. In those cases I have a hard time faulting him since I should have cleaned his box sooner, but his box was perfectly clean last night when he did it. I'll have to read up on the signs of a UTI so I can be on the look out.

The straining or not being able to go usually indicate he may be blocked by crystals or stones. That was with my henry he has crystals. He never had uti. If he strains and does only a little or nothing in 24 hrs then he needs to go urgently to ER.but that probably is not the case here just something to watch out for. Generally younger cats get blocked at least that is what the dr told us. Some cats can get cystitis with no UTI. They don’t know what causes it maybe stress? In that case the vet gives pain medicine and antibiotics to help with the episode . Keep monitoring him. The fluids should help hopefully and hope all this is nothing serious . Maybe he started hating the litter? My Henry once decided he was over yesterdays news litter and refused to go lol changed the litter and happy cat.

Never mind just saw that he is doing much better. Thank god. Ignore everything I said lol. It’s almost midnight I get a pass lol

Have you checked for ketones since yesterday at +5 pm cycle?
No, I was going to do it at AMPS, but he's been acting so much better today than last night. I was going to wait til PMPS, but I may as well do it right now... OK, we're at 0.3 so it's down from yesterday. The fluids and the increase in food/water today is hopefully responsible.

It may be nothing, but one thing that concerns me is a few days ago, I was pulling out one of his dried up "eye boogers" and connected to it (which pulled out of his eye socket) was some gunk that looked like a really big booger. It freaked me out a bit and I did some research and couldn't really figure out why, and assumed it may just have been a one time thing. Well, it just happened again. I could see the gunk sticking out of his eye and when I went to remove it, it pulled up a whole bunch more out of his eye. It was quite a large amount of gunk. I took pictures of it, but it may be a little too gross looking to post on here. I've pulled up his lids and looked around and nothing looks inflamed or out of place. He was using his "2nd eye lids" in that eye quite a bit last night, but not really today.

John just looked at your SS shouldn't the 247 @+10.75 be colored yellow
Now what the heck could that crap be in his eye,
@John & Henry
Nice catch, I fixed it.

The eye thing is probably nothing, but I figure I may as well post a link to the pictures in case anyone wants to see and people scrolling this thread won't have to be grossed out: https://imgur.com/a/lsPBSZj

edit: He's always had the dry crusty eye boogers that I'll remove frequently, but I've never seen anything like this come out of his eye before.

I'm happy his BG and ketones are down, I'll have to use my daughters tablet to see the pic, my tablet sucks , I'll look when she's done using hers
