I was wondering what to do on Sunday. My sister-in-law will pick Checkers up and drive to Kelowna (about 5-6hr drive). He doesn't do well in cars so we will give him a sedative, acepromazine. Should we give him a lower insulin dose?

He leaves at +5, but I will give him the sedative probably an hour ot two before.

See what his numbers looks like. You might be able to give the full dose and MC between AMPS and +3/+4, If needed.

He has a vet appointment Monday morning to have the Freestyle Libre put on. So he can be monitored regularly.

If he is likely to rip it off, you might want to get a collar or a shirt to protect the sensor. Also, the Libre gives some wonky readings in low numbers. Reads much lower and shows some random dives into low greens/limes. Will be good if your SIL can cross check those numbers with a meter.
