Hello everyone,

The last couple of days have been stressful. Butch sensor fell off once again Tuesday evening after his PMPS shoot and I wasn't able to replace it (vet visit) till yesterday +8, only for it to fall off 4 hrs later. I have not been able to monitor the last couple of days plus I believe yesterday PMPS was a FS. The good news is I replaced it with the help of a friend today (no vet visit needed).

Butch +6.5 HI on the Libre.
I know it's possible Butch is in a bounce, or it can be the wacky numbers of day 1 of the Libre.

@Bandit's Mom @Wendy&Neko @Angela & Cleo

FS question - Would it take a couple of cycles to regulate again after a FS?

UPDATE - Sensor fell off again before his PMPS:(

Hi Madeline, so sorry about the Sensors falling off. That sucks!! Did he pull them off or it came off on its own?
But congratulations on putting a new one on with your friend! Great work!!
His cycles may be off a bit from a FS.
Hope he comes back down gently. Have a good night and a safe surf. :bighug::bighug:♂️

Hi Staci. Thank you!:)
Do you believe it fell off again.:( I think it is the area that it is being placed. Since he has been using the Libre, I alternate from one side to the other. Butch never seemed to bother with it. Just a snare every time I scanned but I noticed he has been licking it. I looked at the pictures where others placed it. Maybe I should place it closer to his neck. I feel so defeated!
Have a good night and a safe surf too.:bighug::bighug:

Every cat is different as to how long it takes to recover from a fur shot. There’s always a chance some insulin got in although that red seems to show not much. But he has seen some lower nadirs lately so hopefully he will recover quickly.

Don’t feel defeated. It happens and it’s a learning curve. here’s a few spots I find successful. Check these pics I save on my phone to remind me.
I don’t think the neck is a good spot.
I also alter from side to side each time to give healing time. And I use a tegaderm on top of the sensor. Then I have a “tube top” on Ivy since she would definitely rip the sensor off (bad kitty).
Some cats don’t mind a tee shirt. (Ivy hated it but doesn’t mind her armless top I made for her.)

Hi Madeline, @tessa's mom and @Staci & Ivy have done a deep dive into the Libre and might be help you figure out how to prevent the sensor from falling off and how to reattach it yourself. Here's a document written by @tessa's mom on the Libre:

It can take a few cycles for the depot to rebuild after a FS, but like Elise said, ECID.

Unfortunately you can’t reattach a sensor once it fell off. You need the original applicator to place it on the body ;)
It’s why I cover the sensor so Ivy can’t pull it off. I learned early on she could and did pull one off when I gave her an inch. :blackeye:

Hi. Thank so much you. I'm hoping to be able to monitor Butch tomorrow.

Thank you, Staci. I'll stay away from the neck. Tube top is a great idea. I don't think Butch would tolerate the T-shirt either.
I have been placing the Libre in the area of the pictures and also alternating sides. It was really never an issue till this week. I'm going to shave again. It seems to have a stub like feel and FB group suggest surgical shave. Also going to purchase the tegaderm to place on top of the sensor. Is tegaderm transparent or have some type of cut out for the sensor?

Here is a picture of where I had placed the sensor on Butch. Your opinion does the shave look shorter enough to you? & does the area look like the pictures?

The pic didn’t upload can you try again?
Do you have an iPhone or android?
If iPhone go to the 3 dots and hit copy the photo and then paste it where you usually type.
I try to shave as close as I can but I never know if it’s “surgical” shave.
Yes tegaderm is a clear thin layer. No cut out. I’ve been poking a small air hole over the center lately just for air to circulate. I just use a toothpick. Buy it on Amazon.

Thank you, Staci! I placed another sensor about an hour ago with a friend. I was desperate to have the sensor on and didn't want to wait another day, so I purchased a pet shirt at PetSmart while I was out today. I tried the tube top, but it didn't fit snug enough. Butch so far is tolerating the T-shirt but I feel so guilty. Hoping it all works out so I can monitor him. It was very stressful not knowing his numbers. Once the sensor was ready, it was 20 minutes after he ate his PMPS, he tested 298. Paws crossed he slides down gently and it's a quiet night.
Hope you have a wonderful night and safe surfing, Ivy:bighug::bighug:
Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it!

I’m so glad you got that all up and running. Great job! You accomplished so much today. Good for you :):):):)
I understand how you feel not knowing what his numbers are. I’m the same.

I’m hoping he will be ok with the tee shirt. Many cats are just fine.

Ivy wore a tee for about 10 months but was biting the shirt and pulling fur out on her chest. I think it was a protest. I thought she was allergic or something. Finally I had a brainstorm that maybe she hated the tee.
I tried a tube top and she’s been fine!! So it seems we have to think outside box sometimes :banghead::banghead:

I’m so happy you got him taken care of. Sending calm vibes your way for a restful night :cat::bighug::bighug::bighug:
