Why....when I can get a mid-day test, she's fine with lovely numbers. When I can't, she has higher than average pre-shot numbers. Why do cats do this to us....it's a very effective and subtle form of torture :)

Hi Bridget, You're just seeing the curve of the insulin's effectiveness.

If you look at Luci's SS, she does it just about every day - those yellow bookends...then a dip to the beach...and if I'm lucky, on to the lagoon and then right back up to the lemon tree...

Looks like Smudge also likes her lemon bookends...she's most likely hitting better numbers mid-cycle every day/night, although as you can see from Luci's SS there are days sprinkled in there that she just doesn't do a darn thing.

Think of the SS as a puzzle - the more pieces you fill in, the better the picture will be of what's going on with the insulin...

It really helps to determine increases/decreases when you can capture those mid-cycle tests.

Our kitties do like to keep us guessing. It's a good idea to grab a mid cycle test whenever you are able to. It helps me with Furball to see what she does at different times in her cycles and on different days.

Yep, this weekend I'm going to make a conscious effort to grab a few more tests each day just to see. This, of course, means she's going to have a lovely start and give me a wonderful curve that looks nothing like what happens during the week.
