8/22 Bella Safe dose while I’m away?

It turns out I have to be away for 5 days, leaving tomorrow, and my husband is not in town either. I have a cat sitter who is willing to help but her experience with giving injections is very limited. She visited me twice to try and learn it, which resulted in one fur shot and one successful shot. Bella’s current dose of Prozinc is 3 units. The sitter won’t test BG, a sensor is not an option, so what would be a safer dose of insulin to give while I’m away? I was thinking of 2.5 units but what if the sitter is going to have fur shots half of the time? Then 3 units may be better? Or would that be too much? Bella will have access to her HC dry food to graze, and the sitter is going to feed her LC FF pates before each shot.

Nothing you can do about fur shots. Hopefully she will get better. Most important thing is that Bella is safe. I would cut back to 2.5 units for the time you both will be gone - for safety’s sake. She doesn’t have a history of ketones, does she?
 
3U actually looks ok for now but not a lot of data at this dose. 2.75U would be my preference if you're worried, but if you think that will be too difficult for sitter, then yes I think 2.5U is the way to go.

I would not count on fur shots in your decisions though, because the opposite scenario is no fur shots and potential low numbers.
