8/31 Oberon AMPS 406, +3 355, +6.75 328, +10.5 364 , PMPS 371, +3 320, +5 303

Just ask DH to start handling Oberon as if there was a test ... but not to do it. Just pick him up, massage his ears a bit, give him a treat, put him down...he'll soon start to be more comfortable with DH doing these things...and will eventually think it's just another picking up/massaging/treat session. Cats seem to love routine and will respond well to it...

Best of luck with that increase...He's definitely ready for it.

Good luck with the increase tonight. I hope this is the magical dose that gets Oberon to change his mind about his favourite colour being pink.
Have a great day, Lisa.

Thanks; he's been doing that but we just need to do more of it. When he's hungry, Oberon jumps up on the table right on cue, but then won't let us touch him. He's cranky and bitey instead. He did the same thing to me the other day when he hadn't gotten his 5 am breakfast (we slept in). I had to feed him a little at 7 and then get a preshot number. (That trick didn't work this morning at 5 either.)

Nova is feisty when she is hungry too. The trick is not to show your disappointment or get mad & frustrated. They pick up on it and get worse. Oberon needs the increase. Don't worry about the 200's. It means the insulin is doing its job to help him get under his renal threshold. It took Nova long time to get where she is today, and that may not even hold for long. :bighug:

I might add....and people might not agree, but while he's high like this, you might want to do selective testing, maybe 4x per day including preshot. (and a curve every week) When his BG starts to get lower, you can increase the testing times. You'll need your strength for then, too.

If you can get him to jump up there on cue - so to speak - give him a treat and let him go.

I whistle for Luci to come...she saunters into the kitchen from where ever she's at...sometimes I have to whistle for a while..but she always eventually comes...just like a snake charmer! She just got used to me whistling...and I can barely remember how it started...but I'd whistle when I'd round her up for a test...and she always gets a treat..just for showing up...

:)

He actually comes when he hears the zipper of the glucometer case. I didn't even try to teach him. Sometimes it takes a couple of minutes for him to wake up and decide to come over, but it's rare that I have to go get him. He always gets treats, food, and/or scritches. We just need to figure out how to work with his cattitude when he's really hungry.

Still well into the 300s, so tonight's dose will go up by 0.5 U. Fingers crossed it finally does the trick for him!

Pretty good drop at +5, down to 303. Wish I could stay up longer to see if he goes lower, but tomorrow's my long teaching day so I really need to get some sleep. This seems promising, though.
