Good morning
Fistuk finally turned a corner. I am now 100% positive that the Cerenia injection caused the hypersalivation and that it made him sicker than he was.
Last night he stopped salivating and his BG started coming down. A lower BG made me feel more at ease to just go to sleep. I woke up at 5:30 and he wasn't in his bed beside me. I looked for him and found him asleep in the toilet box. The poor little one is so exhausted that he couldn't get up and return to bed.
When I took him back to his bed and strokes him he was purring. I was so happy about that.
I found a few constipated pebbel-like poo in the box. DH came in late last night and said that he saw Fistuk trying his best to produce.
We stopped Slippery Elm yesterday mid-day and I gave him a bit of the VomiSan powder that the vet gave as a way of balancing the acids in the body and protecting the throat.
I give him now 2mg Ondansetron every 8 hours. I checked my notes from last time and that's what worked.
We still syringe feed him but he resists less and he sits straight up in bed rather than keep on collapsing. I also give him a bit of water with the syringe inbetween feedings so he gets enough liquides. In the evening I'll give again 80ml SQ.
I called in sick today because I wanted to be here and take care of him.
I'm so relieved that I know what was the cause of the problem and that I can safely wait until our own vet comes back from her holiday and do a blood test at home.
Wishing you all a wonderful days
