Good morning :)

Fistuk finally turned a corner. I am now 100% positive that the Cerenia injection caused the hypersalivation and that it made him sicker than he was.

Last night he stopped salivating and his BG started coming down. A lower BG made me feel more at ease to just go to sleep. I woke up at 5:30 and he wasn't in his bed beside me. I looked for him and found him asleep in the toilet box. The poor little one is so exhausted that he couldn't get up and return to bed.

When I took him back to his bed and strokes him he was purring. I was so happy about that.

I found a few constipated pebbel-like poo in the box. DH came in late last night and said that he saw Fistuk trying his best to produce.

We stopped Slippery Elm yesterday mid-day and I gave him a bit of the VomiSan powder that the vet gave as a way of balancing the acids in the body and protecting the throat.

I give him now 2mg Ondansetron every 8 hours. I checked my notes from last time and that's what worked.

We still syringe feed him but he resists less and he sits straight up in bed rather than keep on collapsing. I also give him a bit of water with the syringe inbetween feedings so he gets enough liquides. In the evening I'll give again 80ml SQ.

I called in sick today because I wanted to be here and take care of him.

I'm so relieved that I know what was the cause of the problem and that I can safely wait until our own vet comes back from her holiday and do a blood test at home.

Wishing you all a wonderful days :bighug:

Look at this gorgeous +3 :D:D:D
My boy is such a hero. He's feeling and looking much better. I wasn't expecting this +3.
Honestly, I'm amazed at the speed of his recovery, considering that the medication he was giving was working against him and his system is already suffering from various challenges.

So, I'm going for a sween in the Rein. I feel I can leave the house for a couple of hours and take advantage of the bit of sun that's left in a Swiss summer :p

Good morning, Shelly, I’m so happy for you and Fistuk!! What a wonderful relief he’s turned that corner and is feeling much better.

I’m sure you feel a huge weight has been lifted today. He’s such a brave little fighter, your sweet boy:bighug:

I’m glad you got to take a nice swim today. I’m sure that was good for your own headspace after the past couple of days.

Wishing you a very peaceful rest of your day and evening and hoping he continues to feel much better:)
Sending much love:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh Shelly, I'm so sorry to read Fistuk and Prince were so sick! I haven't been on the board in a bit, and I'm happy to see they both are doing better. You are such a great cat mom to stay home and offer all this care for Fistuk. Sending hugs and prayers he continues to recover, and that you get some much needed rest. :bighug:

Hi Shelly, what a positive update! I am so happy Fistuk is feeling better and he is on the road of recovery. I'm sorry the vet didn't tell you about this side-effect. I would have been so worried too. I can feel your relief. I hope Fistuk can soon enjoy his days in the sun again and enjoy a tiny piece of butter in the morning! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Christine.
We're not out of the woods just yet but there's certainly a change for the better once I stopped giving him the Cerenia injections. I'm still so mad at the vet for giving him something the made his recovery more challenging. And that she didn't even think about his hypersalivation as a side effect.
DH took a day off today to care for him :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike :)
Yes, a relief it is. I'm still a bit on edge because he's really weak and lost his balance. he doesn' move if we don't encourage him or take him to the toilet.
I hope that today there will be more signs of recovery :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Shelly, so glad to read that Fistuk is better! I hope that his brother is also fine and you can finally relax a bit after all these worries. Hope you are having a nice weekend! :bighug::bighug:
Yes, Prince got better as well. Took Fsituk few more days than it took him. Thanks for asking about him.
I am lying down in bed and about to watch something with DH :bighug::bighug::bighug:
