Please guys I am so upset again
As you know I increased Tyler's insulin to 2.25 units on 9-9-20
Please look at his SS
His AMPS was 227 I gave him his insulin lantus he did not want to eat .
So knowing he could eat later I tested him @+4.75 and it was 329

He then wanted to eat

Don't you think that his BG @+4.75 would be really low considering he did not eat anything after shooting.

Just tested him again @+6.75 it was 339. Even though this reading could be food influenced I think he should have been much lower at the @+4.75 with no food in him

I wonder if the pen is too old? I started it on 5-7-2020

What do you gals think I should do
He seems fine, eating , other than today right after shooting, peeing , pooping is all good.
Wendy had mentioned when was his last blood work and checking his teeth.
He goes the beginning of October
I did pry his mout open and got a pretty good look and they look ok to me but obviously the vet can look better than me

Would take him sooner but his brother Perry with the kidney disease hasn't been doing to good and I have been taking him every 2 weeks so far for blood work and starting him on Epogen for anemia so I have been spending so much money for him
Please let me know what you ladies think
Start a new pen?

Thank you

If he has an upset tummy or something like that, it could raise his numbers. In addition, I think you could be dealing with a little New Dose Wonkiness.

I used pen cartridges (like a pen but just a refill) up to 91 days. As an experiment, you could start a new pen and see what happens. I would do it in the AM though, not at night. In case the old one has gone off. Does the old pen look OK. Insulin clear, no floaties? Always stored in the fridge?

No upset tummy , he is already looking to eat.
The pen was 4 months old on 9-5-20
It looks fine to me no floaties, clear and kept in the fridge
How the heck are you supposed to see how full the pen is since it's in that gray container or whatever you call it lol
I can't see how full it is
I'll give it 2 more days and see what his numbers are and if they are still pink and yellow I'll try a new pen in the AM

Thank you Wendy for getting back to me I truly appreciate it
I hope you have a pleasant evening :bighug::cat:

I hope Tyler comes back down for you soon. Giving him a few days to see what happens sounds like an excellent idea. :bighug:
Have a good night.

Well ladies I think I know why Tyler has been high.
There was no insulin left in the pen:banghead:
What a jerk I feel like

This morning I went to draw the insulin and I over drew on purpose and when I went to take a few drops out nothing was there
This was probably going on for over a week.
The last time I let a few drops out the was most likely a week or so

Not saying he didn't need an increase in the past
I did shoot the 2.25 this morning and will keep a close watch on him and test more often today

So I guess I would have to wait for the depot to fill again
What an idiot I feel like
I wonder if this has happened to anyone else
I assume I have to wait for the depot to fill again?

So hopefully the mystery is solved Poor Tyler ♥:bighug::cat:
