Hi,
I was told to start Checkers on 1u Lantus once he came home from hospital after DKA. He had a libre sensor which gave me lots of BG data but unfortunately failed after 7 days. My vet told me to go up to 1.5u since his numbers with the Libre were still high.
I ordered syringes with half unit markings online but they didn't arrive until this week. Though I was starting to give him a bit more that 1u with the other syringes but it is not very precise. So i started the 1.5 dose for the pm shot this Tuesday once I finally got the syringes. I did a curve today (Saturday) and it was all in the yellows. He still seem to be drinking and peeing more then normal and I am testing him for ketone roughly once a day when I catch him in the litter box.
So I was wondering if I should increase now (starting tomorrow am) or should I wait for a week on this dose (increase on Tuesday)? I am doing SLGS so according to that I should wait.
It looks like a fairly flat curve. I was hoping with the yellow preshots it would dip into the blues at the nadir but it doesn't seen to do that. He does eat his meals spread out throughout the day, free feeding instead of all at once.
