Is it morning again!? We have survived and received a reducie for our efforts ...1.25. Thank goodness DH is shooting ​

 

I see Elmo made it easy for you to decide whether to shoot or not. I hope he comes back down slowly. I hope you can get a nap or two in today.

Well, of course, and then with that +5 looks like Elmo is going to do his own thing today anyway, I was thinking he might shoot to the moon after the night he had!

Hard to say if he's started dropping from the +2 or just holding flat (meter variance is big at these numbers), but, back down in pinks is nice to see, rather than going in the other direction. He might be tiring of the mega-bouncing, hooray!

+ 9. 367....my usual meter is Relion Confirm but have Relion Prime as back up ...with this reading the Confirm said 367 , the Prime 401....is this what is referred to as meter variance ?? 40 point difference ?

 

Could very well be. I was using 3-4 meters last Fall/Winter and I got readings all over the place too...just have to pick one and go with it. I felt that the OneDrop and the PetMeter were within just a few points of one another on most readings...that was good enough for me...and the OneDrop requires the smallest drop of blood - sometimes Luci's reluctant to give it up for her Vampire mama...

 

EMID - even within human glucometres, each meter is different. Use one and stick with it. Personally, I'd stick with the meter that reads lower.
There is less an a 10% difference between the two. In Canada, meters have to be within 15% of each other.

 

My prob with the Confirm is I have to order the strips from ADW....the Prime is just close by at Wal Mart ...convenience

 

In the US meters have a 20% variance. Use whatever meter is easier for you to use.

I agree with the MC suggestion. Was going back and forth between that and a mix, but I think it's a good idea to set the tone right here at the start-- no more funny business!

Although with Elmo, you have to hope he doesn't figure out that this (dropping at a fast rate) is the path to more yumminess .

 

By snack are we talking 1 teaspoon or as much as he'd like ( cos he like his MC )

 

Just a small amount (you can be generous, but no more than a couple tsp).

 

Beth, keep in mind that IF Elmo were to do a repeat of last night, you don't want him filled to the brim when you need him to eat. A couple of tsp. should boost up BG but leave room for food later if need be.

 

That's what I gave ...heaping teaspoon ..and he layed on the couch as he ate, lounging like a king being fed a cluster of grapes He beats all I ever saw !!!!

 

Going to give a little more gravy cos only gave heaping teaspoon of food and gravy ...let's put the screeching halt to this nonsense, old man

 

Question: Safe to assume that a 100 point drop is a call to action ? Less than 100 gets more measured response ?

 

And that we now know that, for the most part, a drop of 100 needs to be responded to by giving MC straight .

 

A drop of 150 points in 2 hours is definitely worthy of some intervention to slow things down. Normally, LC would do but Elmo doesn't seem very carb sensitive so using MC early is fine when you get an excessive drop early especially at night when you really don't want to be up all night steering him. Any drop by 2 hours, post shot can indicate an active cycle but when the drop is that huge, it's pretty much a sure thing.

 

Duly noted ...and taped to my ever more covered kitchen cabinet !!

Not doing the main school run today as my 8 seater is in the garage being fixed.... wouldn’t start yesterday for some unknown reason just before pickup. I had to use the smaller car that only seats 5 and get the older kids to catch buses! Such fun organising with literally 5 minutes before bus left. So today my son had to do pickup. I just have to go out in 30 mins to meet the bus of another one who goes to a different school.

So glad my school drop offs and pick ups are a thing of the past. The parking lots were a nightmare to navigate.The worst one, however, was a 4:30 a.m. wake-up to take mine and pick up 4 others out to rowing practices. Return trip at 7:30 a.m.
