9/21 Moe: amps=315;+2.5=249; vet update; +6=107;+10=156; PMPS=145;+2=118

Back from the vet. He was a good boy, cooperative (unusual for him - he’s been known to destroy a lab). Couldn’t get a urine sample so I have the nonabsorbent litter to try and catch a sample at home today. BP is normal, heart rate was fast (possibly vet stress), no murmur. Breathing and chest normal; teeth have some plaque buildup already (dental in April). He’s gained over two pounds since April, now just over 18 lbs. Vet wants me to cut back his food by 25%. So three quarters of a can twice a day instead of a full can.

Arthritis confirmed in both elbows and hips, so I’ll be getting injectable adequan in the next couple of days. She suspects some soft tissue growth in the soft palate and tongue based in the video of him eating and my description of his occasional snorting and wheezing.

We’ll have blood results in the next day or so, and hopefully urinalysis if I can catch a sample.
 
156 at +10. Moe’s just had a little snack and I’m hovering around with a ladle, waiting to catch him in the litter box. He’s decided that the nonabsorbent litter isn’t actually a thing and won’t use it. :banghead:

There is barely anything there - I can relate to nosorb being rejected. Washed aquarium gravel or even lentils are an OK substitute. The just need to be clean and free of any bacteria that would contaminate a sample.

Sounds like a pretty good vet visit. It's great his heart seems OK, always an area of possible concern for acros. I am hoping the Adequan helps, I hear a lot of good things about it. Getting weight off might help arthritis too, as long as it's OK for him to loose weight. Acros tend to gain muscle, not necessarily fat. IGF-1 and growth hormone are key players in muscle growth.

Vet suggested cosequin or adequan for arthritis. I have heard good things about it and it’s her preference. She did suggest that he lose some weight since that could help with the arthritis pain as well.

I managed to catch a good urine sample with the ladle (Moe is so tolerant...doesn’t mind me poking around under him while he pees) and delivered that to the vet this afternoon.

He’s acting really worn out and tired tight now. I guess the vet visit really took a lot out of him (unusual). He’s been hanging around in my closet and bathroom all day, not too interested in food this afternoon. PMPS is 145

Thanks for asking... Having a little hard time getting over my Peanut recent sudden death.... and my sweet girl Zoe (CKD end stage) is near the end...! Uncle still the same; you know how it is, not always easy!! :rolleyes:
