Anyone have experience with this?

Hello everyone!

My girl Kitty was diagnosed mid April this year and has been on a journey to find the right dosing for her meds. She is currently on Lantus twice a day and she was going down pretty slowly until they increased her dose. Now she is bouncing from very high to very low, which is frustrating!

We had our second true low event yesterday. See my post about it here for more detail.

Just got a call from the vet and she is very suspicious of the highs and lows that kitty has been experiencing. She wants us to do an ultrasound to see if there are any "abnormalities or masses". Does anyone else think we need to jump there just yet?

I feel like maybe we should try changing the dose first or change to a different medication before we jump to a possibly surgical or cancerous option. Her blood work the last two times was pretty much clean (I will work on getting the results put into her spreadsheet). The only things were last month she had a slight increase in liver numbers and this time they were normal but she had slightly increased creatinine, which I would expect at 11.

Anyone have any similar experience with these highs and lows? Has anyone ever had a similar issue and found anything on an ultrasound? I am scared now that she may have cancer and we just lost by 33 year old brother to cancer last year so that is triggering some PTSD for sure... I am not sure how to proceed.

Thanks!

I responded in your post on the Lantus forum. Highs and lows are completely normal - 99% of newly diagnosed cats bounce. The phrase "my cat's numbers are all over the place" probably ranks as the mostly common phrase around here.
