Hey all. I've got to leave the house tomorrow morning at 4 (which is at +8.) Originally DH was going to stay and give the shot, but now he wants to come along for support (which is really sweet) but that leaves me with the quandry of what to do at +8. Should I just shoot to whatever number she will be at then? She usually doesn't nadir for another hour or two. I'll take all advice.

    Thanks!

I think it depends on when you're going to be back. Shooting at +8 and then +8 again would be TID and should get you back on schedule again. If you can do that you would probably want to take your daily dose and divide it by 3. I would be cautous about shooting your normal dose at +8 because the overlap could take Aria low. I don't feel comfortable giving dose advice, so hopefully others with more experience will post soon.

Do you realize your spreadsheet doesn't have any dates? I'm assuming the last entry is today, and it looks great!

When you shoot early, you don't want to shoot before peak. It gives too much overlap, and sets up either rebound or hypo. So if you have to leave before peak, I'd skip the dose.

Terri - Thank you! I didn't realize I had started leaving off the dates! Days just blur together. I went and did some clean up.

We may be back by noon which would be +16. She's been doing so well, I don't want to screw up the great progress (and her finally getting some decent numbers.)

I know no one wants to give dosing advice (heck, I wouldn't want to either.) Just wanted to see if someone had been in this kind of situation before who could give pointers. 8 is so close to her nadir. Some days she's at +8 and sometimes at +9.

I'm thinking that we'll be up at +7.5 so I can test then, then test before we leave to see if she's started her upswing. If so, maybe just give her a token dose (.5u), which is less than half her normal dose, which usually drops her slightly then holds her steady. If she's in the blues, I think I'll have to let her ride it out. If she's doing one of her fabulous "had a great day yesterday, let's freak Mama out and hit the 400's", I'll give her 1u which is still less than her usual 1.3 or 1.6.

All in all, it would be kind of like TID (which I should have considered, thanks Ele) which we've used before to try and hold wild fluctuations down.

Thanks for the advice guys. DH is being sweet coming with me, so I didn't want to tell him I'd rather he stay with the cat :D

Sounds like you have a good handle on things, and a good plan for morning. Sounds like your DH is a good one :D and will understand if you do decide to assign him to cat duty. Hope everything goes well, I don't envy you a 4am departure, ewww!!!

Pretty #s today!!! Looks like she may do well at 12/12 once it works for your schedule and if you find a dose that works (1.4? just guessing). Perfect PS tonite, and last night too!!!! Can't ask for more than that. :D

I think it'll be nice once I get to a set dose for AM/PM... that's possible right? At least I'm getting good data :)

I definitely think it's possible - when you get those nice PSs like you are seeing after a good nadir, then you know you got the perfect duration that cycle. You may find those same doses work just as well at the lower PS as at higher ones, but I too would try lowering it a bit out of caution at first. If the lower doses don't give you the nadir and duration, then the next time you get a good PS, you try something a little bit higher til you get there. I found with PZI that even 0.1u can make a lot of difference sometimes (though I would move in 0.2u increments unless it turns out you need to fine-tune further than that). You might find too that if she stays in good #s for longer the dose will come down - Bix went up to 1.8 to get him consistently in good #s, then over about a week gradually dropped down to around 1.2, and then slowly dropped further from there. But ECID. You are seeing good results though, yay!!!

Hope, are you home yet? How did she do?

I just had to jump on here and tell you how nice Aria's name is. It's so pretty. Do you enjoy opera? I almost had a kitty named Aria too. My vet had someone bring a kitten in that was found on a construction site covered in paint thinner and with her whiskers all cut off (I shudder to think what was in store for her). The next week a friend was in for an apt (we have the same vet) and mentioned that I was thinking of getting a kitten, so my vet suggested I come in and see this one. The front staff had named her Lianna. But when I got to the vet (late Sat) someone had taken her home for the weekend, but a second kitten had come in that they thought was her sister and they named her Aria. The folks here (FDMB) had suggested that I get TWO kittens so my older cats would not be bothered by one energetic kitten (two would play with each other). I did end up taking both, but then I kept calling them by each others names so I decided to switch them, then I decided to tweak them and 'Aria' became Ariel and 'Lianna' became Leanne. The new names fit them much better, but Aria is still a very pretty name.

I would love to see a photo of her... hint, hint :D

Cindy - LOL! Yeah, that would fit her diva personality. The Disney Princess 1/2 marathon was yesterday and it's my favorite race. Unfortunately, you have to get up obnoxiously early for the 6am starting gun. I'm a super slow runner, but I love race day.

Sheila - I will get on that picture. I know I have a few floating around. Some (unfortunately) were when she was really sick because I was afraid I wouldn't have a recent picture of her if she passed. In the last few weeks, she feels less bony, so I'm hoping to get my chunky girl back. She also tends to get that snarky look on her face when I show up with the camera :) I do enjoy opera now and again. DH isn't so into the subtitles :) I played piano as a kid and always loved when we'd get to a good aria, so I think the name stuck. I like flowy names. Ari's sister is also her littermate and came with the name Bagheera (from the Jungle Book.) She's the quintessential kitten (even at 15) so we shortened her name to Gira when I brought her home with Ari.

She did ok this weekend. I definitely went light on the dose and it showed. I was really sick last night (something I ate post race I'm sure) so I didn't make it for +12 at 3am. I was up at +11, but really sick, so I didn't trust myself to see the units properly. The girls begged some food, and I left them with 2 cans of FF and both were chowing down. At +16.5 she was sky high at 543 but no ketones and in a good mood. She tends to hit a big honkin' black number after a few good days, so this time it didn't freak me out. I gave her 2 units, which should get her back on track and we're back to reasonable shot hours.

Yay, a picture! She looks like she is long-haired gray and white? Or is she a dilute tortie with lots of tortitude? She does look a little annoyed there! So cute.

Sorry to hear you were sick - hope you are better now. Ugh on the 500s - well, hope she comes down nicely after a day or two on 12/12 regular dosing.

She's all silver grey with white chest and whiskers and real pretty green eyes (when she's not annoyed with me.) I'm hoping once she starts feeling better, her coat will go back to being fluffy.

Ari's civvie sister broke one of her "fang teeth" (my DD's term) so she's in for a tooth removal this morning. No idea how she did it. No idea when it happened. I was thinking there would be a month where I wouldn't be dropping crazy $$ at the vets. Guess not! At least she'll be home in a few hours.

Just wanted to say that Aria is beautiful. I'm glad you got her picture up. Sorry about the civie's tooth. I hope everythings goes well at the vet.

I think I missed your Sunday morning. Did you run a marathon? I know that would make me sick.

I hope Ari's numbers come down this week for you.

LOL! 1/2 marathon but it was fun. I did my marathon last year and I think that dream is now retired indefinitely. The 1/2 was a Disney race, so way expensive but you get to see all the characters out on the race course. My favorite was running by one of the areas where they were playing Bonnie Tyler's "I Need a Hero" and had 4 of the storybook princes standing up there posing and looking macho. They'd high five and wink at you when you went by. I meant to bring a camera this year, but I hate running with too much "stuff."

Ari's been eating up a storm and in a great mood, so I'm thinking we're on the right track. New U100's came in today so I'll be able to be a bit more precise with her dose, so things are lookin' good for the week :)

Keep the dream alive, Hope! ;) I keep thinking the same thing and it hasn't happened yet, sadly. There's always next month. As a Chicago Cubs fan, I'm used to repeating that mantra (substitute "year" for "month"). ;)
