Best litter for a sugar cat?

Hey guys what litter do y'all use? Right now I'm using the Arm & Hammer double-duty. It's clumping fine, covering smells fine, but it just seems to be very tacky or sticky if you will. It clings to the litter scoop. Also I know that our sugar cats are prone to UTIs, and while this litter does not throw up as much dust as others it does throw a small amount up. What is the best litter to use without breaking the bank since I'm scooping every day, multiple times a day. She's still peeing a lot as we're getting her insulin dose adjusted and her blood glucose leveled out.

Chances are it's not the litter. When kitty has high BG the extra sugar in the urine makes it sticky. Litter was getting stuck on my boy's hocks when his sugar was high. I was going through a lot more litter in the early days as well from high polyuria. Getting his numbers under better control, past few months still using the same litter but it stopped sticking :).

To answer your main question, I use Scoop Away ;)

Agree with Yong. Once the BG is under some control, there should be less pee.

I use Arm and Hammer as well as Tidy Cats. I tried the lightweight stuff. Nice for the human - easy to carry. Kittehs didn't like it because they sink down into it.

When Leo had bad neuropathy, he used to get litter on his hind hocks all the time. Big sticky messes. Made him miserable, and very difficult to clean up. The solution was BG regulation, and B12, both of which resolved the neuropathy drastically.

Made me giggle so I found a picture :p

Yup, same for Maury. Combined sugary urine and neuropathy :(. His neuropathy is pretty much gone now :)

I switched to plain old clay litter. The non scoopable kind. I had to soak Chuck's feet sometimes to get the little rock hard clumps from between his toes. He was NOT happy.
Once I have him somewhere near regulated levels I'll probably switch back to fresh step. Before I switched I was using a whole 38 pound box a week! I think it was 38 pounds-- the double pack from Walmart.
I use a thin layer, about an inch deep, and dump it every other day. It was once a day but he's peeing less now.
